Another useless Strat pickup comparrison

If anyone has a need to waste a minute or two and torture yourself, I sometimes record comparrisons just for myself but if anyone cares here is a probably too long comparro of Bridge pickups. First the YJM Fury, then Dimarzio Injector then SD hot stack plus, then little 59 and finnally an SG with a hot PAFish bucker. The amp is an East Club 18 through a Creamback 65. Sorry for the crap audio I had the volume as high as I could to try to get a good tone but in a small space so it was wanting to feedback on me.

I should have included a Strat with actual single coils so here is a quick and terrible comparro The orange Strat has Classic Stack plus in the neck and Hot Stack plus in the bridge. The Single coils are Texas Specials.

Interesting comparison. It would be interesting to hear the same with different levels of gain. The gain in the video masks some of what's different about the pickups (even AC/DC didn't use quite that much gain), but I could still hear some differences. Injectors sound the most like Gibson humbuckers to me. In fact, I found out accidentally that an Injector neck in the middle sounds like a Gibson neck humbucker. The Lil 59 sounds just like a regular 59 does to me; good chop and very even.

Fair enough, and as you wish. in order YJM, Injector, Hot stack plus, litlle 59, model 59, and texas special.

Injector is still winning for me, though the Hot Stack, Little 59 and Texas Special all sounded pretty equal on this particular song and gain level. All of them sound pretty good and full.

That Injector I just got 2 days ago and the little 59 i have had since 2002 or so, I keep coming back to it. I have somewhat been on a mission to find the perfect strat bridge tone lately, but for better or worse (mostly worse) I just end up sounding like me regardless. But that's why I record these snippets from time to time so I can hear it and stop obsessing over the little things.

I think I'd have to say I favored the DiMarzio Injector with the SD Hot Stack closely behind. But I listened through my phone speaker :p

My only criticism for the demo is that a higher gain like the one used here makes it harder to tell differences of pickups, at least for a comparison like this. Cleaner sounds, edge of breakup tones will allow us to be able to tell these things better. When I do demos, I usually do one video with clean sounds and one video with dirty sounds.

Yeah, I had an ESP LTD that came stock with the 59/JB humbucker combo, I couldn't stand them. I got those pups replaced with the Green Magic set, couldn't be happier!
