Antiquities 'Texas Hots' HELP!!!!!!!!

Wired the p/ups then had a ground issue. Grounded the pots. Plugged in pickguard and had signal. Put guitar together, re strung, lost signal. Took back apart.

Have signal from jack, three connections on selector switch, but not the connections on selector switch. No activity from pots either.

Did my switch blow or the pots, or all!?!?

Time crunch for Friday night.

Need help/suggestions.

Re: Antiquities 'Texas Hots' HELP!!!!!!!!

Is the control cavity on the body shielded w/ copper tape or shielding paint? If so, part of the lead wire may be inadvertently touching it, grounding the circuit out.

If not, there's a good chance that part of the ground wire is touching one of the leads when you put it all back together. This is one of the reasons I hate strats.

Double check all your leads to make sure something didn't come loose, or you don't have a cold solder joint, etc.

I ran into the same problem last night and best thing is to tap the pickup lightly w/ a screwdriver after you put the pickguard back on the body, but before you screw the pickguard back down or restring it. That way if it's not working, you won't have to de-string and deal with 8-11 screws on the pickguard.

I also tend to tap the pickup periodically as i'm putting the pickguard screws back in. if something goes dead, I'll be able to determine if it's because something got squished down and grounded out.

good luck!
J.

That could be on the grounding out. Those pickups came with a ton of wire. I'll check it out and let you know...
