Antiquity Humbucker Question...

First time post, long time Duncan user here...

I'm getting a '95 Tele Special and want to do some PU swapping. It has a humbucker in the neck and single coil in the bridge. Maple Neck/Poplar body. Picture is attached here.

I already have an Antiquity Bridge Humbucker I was thinking of using in the neck position and putting in a Duncan Lil 59 in the bridge and adding a mini toggle for parallel/series. It already has a 5 way switch for coil tapping in it.

The Antiquity I have was a special order from the Custom shop to be setup as as 4 wire conductor already.

Questions are...

Will using the bridge Antiquity in the neck position cause some odd tonalities?
Will it help balance out the Lil 59 output since the bridge is much hotter?
Is this good humbucker choice overall for this guitar?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Andy

Re: Antiquity Humbucker Question...

Andy,

I'm pretty sure the Ant-bridge you have will do the job nicely. Dont you know that some of the best 50's Les Pauls came with hotter pickup in the neck slot ?

And yes, I think that its a good choice for such guitar, as a Tele is usually bright and snappy... the added warmth and "air" of the Ant will match perfectly.

Goodluck, and keep us in touch

Re: Antiquity Humbucker Question...

I agree that the bridge model Antiquity would be fine for that application. Especially if it's at the lower end of the spectrum (8.3K to 8.5K). It should sounds really good!!

Re: Antiquity Humbucker Question...

Naturally, try it and see. Personally, I think the under 7.5K Antiquity neck bucker would be a better choice...especially with a Tele single coil size lead pickup, even if it's a little 59. Expect the neck humbucker to be louder than the bridge pickup...because it probably will be. What you'll probably get is a nice tone for rythym ( and solos ) when both are combined: ala Albert Collins and Keith Richards. Lew

Re: Antiquity Humbucker Question...

Thanks guys! I'm wondering now if the stock cover shown above will fit okay with the Antiquity. I thought I saw on the spec page for this PU, that it sat a bit lower due to the mounting ring. I'm hoping it will just fit right in.

I figure with the Lil 59, when run parallel it will be more twang like and when in series it'll be more rock like. Should make an interesting set of tones.

Yeah here are the Ant MB specs and they seem pretty close except for the obvious areas.
