Just wondering if anyone had custom ordered a pair of Antiquity humbuckers with the same treatment done to Alnico V magnets instead of the Alnico II's. If so what were the results? Any Vids/Soundfiles?? Just would like to hear the degaussed/aged sound on the Alnico V vs. the Alnico II. Thank You!

Some of us aren't thrilled with degaussed A2's, as they have even less treble and output than a normal A2. Better mag choices would be fully-charged A2, UOA5, A3, & A4.

Throbaks are a little pricey. You can get excellent results with Seth's and Ant's, swapping magnets if need be.
A5's can be quite sharp. The idea of degaussing it a bit is one of Throbak's main selling points (in the pickups that he sells with A5's). Supposedly this makes the A5 much better for most of his applications.

I have Antiquities in my Hamer Artist Korina, they are exceptional. I was just wondering if anyone custom ordered the Antiquities with a degaussed Alnico V. I have been playing for almost 30 years. The Throbaks are nice but no set of pickups is worth 600$ I have some nice boutique builders that didn't cost an arm and a leg..Lollar p90s, Bare Knuckle Rebel Yell, WCR Godwood/Darkburst, Tom Anderson H2+... in addition to many old Duncans.

I bet you'd be prepared to pay more than $600 if a real nice set of PAF's was offered to you!!
But needless to say, the point was certainly missed by all and sundry - I wasn't saying buy Throbak, but that Throbak recommends going for degaussed A5 rather than full charge, so I'm sure it would sound good in the Ant's too.
Actually one product I do recommend you get from them is the magnets - he has done a lot of work with destructive vintage mag testing to find the precise formulations - you would have 1 killer Ant set with a pair of Jon's mags in them.
