antiquity humbuckers. distortion, cleans, etc...

hi guys!
i haven't started a thread in a while.

i will be receiving a heritage les paul with my name on it in about 1 month. it will have 2 ant humbuckers. i was wondering if anyone had clips of ants humbuckers in any guitar (preferably les paul).

how will the antiquities overdrive - classic rock style? zeppelin style, ac/dc style, zz top ? can anyone say "Cocaine"??

i play all jazz lately and i know the neck pickup will be my favorite with the tone rolled off.

what about high-gain tones? i heard antiquities are low-output humbuckers. can i still do satriani tunes with that guitar?

any feedback would be appreciated.
i'm very excited about that guitar.

They'll rock. Younger guys forget that all of the classic rock tunes from about 1966 through 1975 (and after) were ALL recorded with what players now-a-days consider low output pickups. All the great lead tones Les Paul players like Clapton got with Cream, Page got with Led Zep and Billy Gibbons got with ZZ, as well as the tones EVH got on the first couple of Van Halen albums, and that Eric Johnson gets today from his ES-335 were all recorded with vintage output humbuckers like the Antiquity humbuckers. You don't need high output pickups to overdrive the bejeesus out of a Marshall and get a killer, killer lead tone. IMO, the tone is better...it breaths instead of sounding all squashed, processed and compressed. Satriani doesn't use super hot pickups...he knows. Lew

aaaah. this is nice stuff to hear, Lew.

i'll record a bunch when i get that thing and post up some clips.

i think its always nice to go back to the roots when you are in a rut. going for the basic stripped down guitar - when you are on the verge of giving up the incessant tone search, and going back to the blues - when you've lost inspiration from playing more difficult technical styles.

Les Paul wars anyone?!? :laugh2:
