I've heard numerous clips if these on youtube and they sound like they have the clean jangly single coil tone i'd love. Can anyone tell me how they sound fully saturated though? Are they suited well for fast shred action?

Well, I play mine with heavy distortion quite a bit, it's noisy like any single coil but I like the sound. I have this old song I recorded, the recording quality isn't the best, but this song is 100% surfers. So I hope it helps answer your question

Edit ; the part with the power chords might be a different guitar. It kinda sounds like it might be humbuckers but I honestly can't remember, however I'm sure that all the lead guitar is the Strat with surfers .

Also, this isn't shred, but here is another song I found that features the surfers with some very heavy gain!
