Antiquity II wiring

I have had these installed for a while and Positions 2 and 4 seem weak and thin compared to my other Strats. Especially position 2 neck/middle. I have the complete matched set of Antiquity II all in the correct position. Is the RW/RP middle pup supposed to be wired white "hot" ,Black "ground" or do I need to reverse the wiring? It appears to be more than these positions being in parallel. REAL THIN! I think they are wired correctly because there is no hum. I have adjusted pickup heights etc... no luck there either

2 possibilities spring to mind -

1: the middle pickup is out of phase.
2: the effect of RWRP (at least to my ears). Tends to thin out the sound a little, but the effect is slight.

Might be that wires were crossed at the factory, previous owner, dealer? Look at the connections on the pickup (be careful) - white should go to the wire coming from inside, black to the outside. Might be a little hard to see. Probably easier to try swapping the wires.

I will give it a shot. I love the tone of these but 2 and 4 are killing me. I thought of going to a 3 way switch if all else fails

do the neck and bridge pups pole pieces attract the middle pups pole pieces?

if you are getting humcancelling then things are probably wired correctly.

have you tried adjusting the height of the middle pup? i have a set of surfers rw/rp middle and i dont find the notch positions thin

Are all three of them Ants? Ants have different polarity than regular SD Strat pickups.

Why not just try how it sounds like with the middle one reversed?

I have a mixture of Ant I and II on my Fender CIJ Jaguar. My luck appears to have been in because both Ant Jag Bridge PU models are one polarity/direction and both Neck PU models are the opposite.

i was refering to strat pups but yes the jag pups are opposite. i use the ant II jag neck in a custom built guitar and love it!

These are all Ant II 1024-08,-09,-10. I will check if the pups attract or repel each other. I would think the neck and bridge should attract to the middle.

As far as adjustment goes if all else seems ok. Middle adjust down???

yes the neck and bridge should attract the middle.

i would bring the middle pup way down, like even with the pickguard and start raising it up till you get where you need to be.

new here at the forum but been reading for a long time. I have the surf rwrp pup in the mid and ssl 1 in the neck and originally left an SCN in the bridge. I had the same problem with those pickups, the 2 and 4 positions very thin low output and buzzing. I reversed the wires on the bridge and neck pups and it took care of the problem but still not quite as loud as as the single pup positions but close. Recently I put a surf in the bridge and wired it normally and the 2 position is even better but left the neck ssl 1 reverse wired. I also balanced the mid pup pretty low just above the pickguard also the neck.

Neck and mid attract bridge and mid attract Neck and bridge repel. I guess the pickups are in the correct place and the correct wind. I am going to slap it together in the a.m. and lower the middle pup and see what happens. I just bought a custom set of the S.D. lipsticks for another Strat project. We'll see what happens with those.

Hmmm - neck and mid attract... Sounds like you got a RWRP pickup (or at least RP). Swap the wires on the middle pickup and see what you get.

TA - The combo positions are not quite as loud as single pickup position. You're combining 2 pickups in parallel.
