Antiquity in bridge is too honky. Any suggestions?

Just installed Antiquity pickups in my 1974 LPC. I am digging the neck pickup, but the bridge pickup sounds too honky when I use over drive.
Any recommendations for a replacement would be appreciated. I'm into Classic Rock tones -- nothing too bright. Thank you.

Ant's are low output (aged magnets, which are low power to begin with) and to me, have a very rounded high-end. I haven't bonded with my set. But...I love Seth Lovers and A2P's, especially in Les Pauls. They're warm, full, and rich. Great tones.

a magnet swap can change the character of the pup quite a bit, alnico 4 or 5 would have less mid honk. plenty of old paf pups were honky sounding too.

I like Seth's. Just wish they had a bit more output.
Haven't tried A2P's.

If its a 74 then its mahogany. Maple didn't come in until a point in 75.....either once Nashville was up and running or once Kalamazoo had run out of the stock of mahogany billets.

even a full strength a2 would be less honky and have more output than the aged on you have in there now

I'll try magnet swapping. And maybe the A2P's.
I think the Seth's have a great tonal balance -- just wish they had a bit more "umph" to them.

I put an A4 (sacrilege) in my Antiquity Bridge (on my SG RI) and it bumped up a lot of mids and rounder highs and turned out much hotter (fully charged) as the A4 was new from addiction FX. Bought on eBay, if they are stil there. Cheap!

a4 had rounder highs and more mids than aged a2? aged a2 is rounded as hell. your output findings are what youd expect, a4 is stronger than a2 anyway and aging them reduces the output even more

Seth's tone is so good; I let the amp add the oomph.

Maybe it was the extra oomph of a fully charged magnet, but yeah, it sounded more "alive" in the upper mids as well as louder. I very much dislike A2's although I recognize my stance is unpopular, at least from what I've read.

I couldn't agree more about the bridge Seth's. Of course, I like 'em better with an A4. That most certainly seems to be be *But that's just me*!

Been (wow!) over 2 years, since I last posted... I ended going with Seth Lovers after trying a bunch of other SD pickups, a couple of Jim Wagner humbuckers, and changing pots.
The Seth Lover is a mellow, warm, classic rock sound and (so far) the best for my guitar.

Sorry, thread hijack. Are the AP2's cleaner sounding than the Antiquities?
