Antiquity Mini Hum Output

I just loaded my new Non-Reverse Firebird Studio with Aniquity mini hums. I have the Firesbird style in the neck and middle and the Deluxe style with the pole peices in the bridge. The neck pickup is louder then the bridge. I have the neck down as far as it can go and the bridge up as high as it can go. They are closer in volume now, but the neck is still a bit louder. The middle is not too bad, but I have that down a bit so I don't hit it with the pick.
My intention was to have something that sounded close-ish to a regular humbucker in the bridge and something a bit clearer in the neck. I know the mini's aren't exactly the same as the full sized buckers.
It's been a while since I've played a guitar with Firebird style pickups. Do they usually have more output than the Deluxe mini's? The neck clocks in at 6.43K and the bridge at 7.59K. Thanks for any input you can provide.

Re: Antiquity Mini Hum Output

I have a deluxe style mini ant 2 in neck. It has less output and 'boominess' than the seth lover I had in neck position, but it gets very close. More extended highs.

Blindfolded, I would think that the ant 2 mini (lp deluxe style) is a low output full sized PAF or similar, until you really dig in and it gets some stratty neck tones except a lil tighter. The output is 7.18 k and matches great with a seth neck in bridge.

Re: Antiquity Mini Hum Output

I've had some replies from another board stating the FB type does indeed have more output than the Deluxe type. Guess I'll have to get an Ant FB for the bridge. I don't know of anyone that makes a pickup with the output and tone of a "regular" humbucker in a mini style package.

Re: Antiquity Mini Hum Output

Well SD makes both seymourized and hot firebird style minis.

The firebird style pickups are a little louder because the magnet is higher up and covers more of the strings directly (without the help of the passive polepieces).

Re: Antiquity Mini Hum Output

Has anyone used the Seymourized version? Does it sound like a FB or a full sized bucker or something else? Thanks!

FB what?

Today's Gibson Firebirds have real heavy-hitters with 22 Kohm bridge and 16 Kohm neck. Vintages ones... errr... didn't :)

Derek trucks is using the FB pup with the SD logo on it in a firebird.

Re: Antiquity Mini Hum Output

Cool! Thanks for the clip. I would guess he's using the more vintage version. Anyone know for sure?

Re: Antiquity Mini Hum Output

Knowing Derek i'd bet on the vintage version...

Even the vintage version will be hotter than a Deluxe style mini...

you can't just go by DC...Firebird pickups have a much more aggressive magnet structure compared to Deluxe style mini's...

Yes, I'm on board. I understand the DCR is but one parameter than affects output and tone. I guess I was surprised by how much of a difference there is. Thanks!
