Antiquity Neck

I have a pair of Antiquity humbuckers in a Blacktop Tele. The bridge pup is perfect for what I'm trying to achieve with this guitar. The neck is *almost* there. After much experimentation the bass strings are fat and articulate but the treble strings are a tad too bright. I've even swapped out different types of bridge saddles, which helped but the problem still exists. Now I'm thinking a different pickup may be the answer. What I'm looking for is something that maintains the clarity and responsiveness of the Ant's lower strings but a bit rounder in the treble strings. Any recommendations?

Re: Antiquity Neck

Move the bass side away from the strings and the treble side a little closer to balance it out.

Besides that, a 59n, APHn, or even a full strength A2 magnet in your Antiquity might help.

Re: Antiquity Neck

After adjusting PU and pole peice heights like GearJoneser said, if it's still too bright a 250K pot or 470K resistor will take off a little high end. Both of those bleed off some treble to ground.

Re: Antiquity Neck

Thanks guys for your help. I've come to the conclusion he Ant neck isn't quite the right pickup for this guitar. I don't want to change out the pot or resistor values as that would also effect the bridge pickup, which is perfect as is. The neck will work great in another guitar.

Re: Antiquity Neck

What is the control layout? Where do you keep the volume and tone control(s) on the guitar?

If you;'re not using the tone control(s) then you need to try that first...

If the Antiquity neck is too bright I don't know what to suggest...the Ants are warm and round all over, in fact most folks that have issues with the Ants want them a little brighter.

Before you pull the pickup try adjusting the height a bit and maybe working with the tone control(s)
