I am about to change my guitar pickup and wondering in anyone can share experiences about Antiquity PAF pickup and Lindy Fralin PAF pickup?

I am searching warm, sweet and clear vintage tone.

Guitar I am using is old Ibanez artist series, mahogany body with maple neck through body and rosewood fingerboard.

Any experience about those two pickups or suggeston about others pickup is really appreciated.

Fralins kind be a little (or a lot0 bright) on the high strings. Antiquities, Seths or maybe one of the WCR's might be a better choice.

I really like some of Lindy's single coils but IM not much for hius BUckers...I think that the Duncan stuff is far more correct when compared to a real PAF. I do actually have a set of Antiquites in my R8 and I love them...great pickups and I would describe them as warm, sweet and clear!

The funny thing is I like Duncan Seth/Antiquity bridges more, but Fralin neck pickups more. In my experience, Fralin necks are beautiful, but the bridges are a tad bright. I'm not sure if you can mix Duncan with Fralin, because of the polarity/wind.

One thing I like to do with Duncans is buy vintage spec necks with hotter bridges like the C-5/Custom/CC/Brobucker/JB etc.

This is exactly what I hear quite often, there must be a lot of validity w/this.
I keep hearing people state that the singles are great, but people are really not into any of Fralin humbuckers.

I do, actually hear good things about the Unbuckers and split singles (which are supposed to sound very single coil-like, LOL.

I had a set of Fralins humbuckers once (pre-Unbucker). They sounded to me like the guy that wound them REALLY wanted them to be Strat pickups.

Thank you all, so I conclude that for humbuckers Antiquity PAF seems to be a better choice.

However, for vintage tone is there any more pickup recommended?

Ho one more question, is Antiquity is good for clean Jazz tone?

The Antiquties will be great for clean jazz tone.

Also, look into Lollar Pickups, if you are interested in vintage tones. I keep hearing great things about his pups.

That is very true. The bridge i had was bright and brighter and louder on the high E

I really like the WCR pickups. i have Duncans or Fralins in all of my single coil guitars and WCR 's in my 3 humbucker equipped Les Pauls. I was going to put a pair of 50th ann Seths in my R9, but one of the pickups was bad.

Re: Antiquity PAF VS. Lindy Fralin PAF

Hi I just look in WCR website, very interesting. But I wonder which pick up and model would give the most sweet, warm vintage tone for clean Jazz.

The more choice is more confuse for me.

Let's say that if cost is not the problem and I would like to have a set of pickup which give the good vintage tone [sweet, warm, clear with full body].

Please vote which pickup you like the most for that tone...

E-mail Mr. Wagner and ask him. I'm guessing Goodwoods, but it will depend on you guitar.
