Antiquity pickup for strat

Hi
After a successful antiquity humbucker modify on my 70' black beauty, I have an idea of having a set of antiquity pickup on my strat too.

But I can not make up my mine which one I should go with, surfer or texas hot.

My stratocaster is Fender 66 NOS model, alder body with rosewood fingerboard on maple neck. I aim for woody tone with real twang strat tone for blue and blue rock sound.

Which one would you recommend?
Experience shared would be really appreciated.

Re: Antiquity pickup for strat

I have both and quite honestly they are both awesome pickups. I have a set of Texas Hots in a 57 RI Strat that has a Brazillian RW FB and graphite nut and saddles with locking tuners. Its a great sounding guitar. Last year I made a Strat from an Anderson body, (Alder) with a Brazillian board neck too. This one has Surfers. I find it difficult to describe the differences because they are subtle. Both pickup sets I have are complete and I have the "custom" bridge in both also. IMHO I don't think you can go wrong with either. I think the Surfers have a bit more twang, but the Texas Hots might have a tad more bite and they tend to sound a little better when driven real hard. Not really better, but more ballsy.

I don't know what type of amp & FX you're using, the Texas Hot would be my choice. A smidge warmer than the Ant.II, and it goes quite well the typical blues/rock type of rig, be it tweed, marshall or whatever.

I have a set of J- style antiquity II in my Fener Jazz Bass and they sound awesome, both are great it's not what we think, but what sounds and fits best for you!
