Antiquity Surfer alternative

Long story short, I like the sounds coming out of the neck position of the Surfer. I like the ‘60s tone. However I plan to have more output from the bridge and have ordered a SSL-3 to experiment with. Would this be a good combo for versatility (or in general) and does Seymour Duncan make anything like the Surfer but without the aged look? I guess I could get close by changing covers but still. Thanks.

Re: Antiquity Surfer alternative

I use a Fralin Steel Pole 43 bridge model with my Surfer neck and middle.

Sounds a bit like a P90 and it’s my favorite Strat size bridge pickup.

Use whatever covers you like the looks of.

Welcome to the forum!

For something higher output in the bridge, I like the SSL-3 or, even the SSL-5 or 6. The closest I think to the Surfers, are either the SSL-1/2 (like late 50s sound), or the Psychedelic or Hendrix sets.

Thanks, I really like Fralin’s stuff as well. I may do a Duncan in the bridge and some Fralins in the neck and middle.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I will try the SSL-3 in the bridge, perhaps experiment with SSL-1 as well.
