Any DiMarzio Super Distortion fans in here?

Re: Any DiMarzio Super Distortion fans in here?

I love the super distortion, admitedly I love the super 3 about 10x as much though.

Re: Any DiMarzio Super Distortion fans in here?

Also, will i need a regular or F spaced SD for my Strat?

Measure the string spacing from e to e at the height of the pickup. If its 2" or less, a standard humbucker will line up better. If its more than 2", a trembucker will line up better.

Yeah an F-spaced would work better.

Re: Any DiMarzio Super Distortion fans in here?

Well i decided that i am going to turn my Strat into a one humbucker guitar. I`ll keep the original pickguard and everything on it intact in case i want to put it back to the original HSS at some point. Just ordered the pickguard (white 3 ply humbucker only with 1 volume knob)and i`ll be picking up the Super Distortion and the CTS 500K volume pot in the next couple of days. Thanks to everyone for the comments and all the help,i`ll keep you posted.

I'm Completely Aware That This Post Is Two Years Old From This Point In Time But, The DiMarzio Super Distortion Is Timeless. Congrats On Ur Choice! :)

Re: Any DiMarzio Super Distortion fans in here?

Definitely a Super Dist fan here. Had one in my homebrew'd axe with a PAF Pro neck, but I since switched the Super to bridge pos. in my strat and moved the PAF pro to the bridge in the homebrew'd - sounds surprisingly clear and full with low tunings!

The super is awesome though. Thick and chunky, smooth on top, and sounds great in a band mix.

I think Larry has joined the forum.

FWIW- big fan here, my go to high gain pup. Someday I'd like to have enough guitars to be able to keep a SuperD/PAF combo around for those times when nothing else will do :D

Well hello to Larry then!

I have been a big fan of the SD in the bridge position (with a PAF in the neck) since back in the '70s when it was one of the only choices.

All of these years and that combo still works great for so many applications!

Re: Any DiMarzio Super Distortion fans in here?

I enjoyed one in my guitar for a while. Now I prefer a more PAF-flavored pup. It was kind of one-dimensional and flat when playing clean and rolled down. However, I do have a Super D with an shimmed up Alnico 2 waiting for a guitar...

Using EVH low friction 500k pots and upgrading my Fat '50s with Vintage Noisless. Should work well, but abit nervous using a Super Distortion. Been using Pearly Gates for along time, bored now.
