Any...er Kramer owners on this board??

The prices went down to the bottom overhere, and I am buying a few superstrats.....with APS-1's and JB's installed from factory...hehe great and ofr's.
Got two Pacers, a custom deluxe and a CustomII that I am looking at, hopefully I'll get one of them monday or tuesday, going to try out the CustomII today.

:burnout:

Re: Any...er Kramer owners on this board??

Kramer is one of the guitars I was considering, last Christmas while looking for something for my boy. I was wondering what their quality is like.

If you feel like it, a mini-review would be cool after you get to mess with them a bit. ;)

Re: Any...er Kramer owners on this board??

Hehe yeah but they are from the late 80's.
87 or 88 I belive.
I hope that I can get the CustomII like the dinky body on that one, no annoying pickguard :laugh2:
But yep I will write something when I get it :)

Re: Any...er Kramer owners on this board??

Oh . . . well that could be completely different then.

Still, guitar reviews are always interesting to read. ;)

Re: Any...er Kramer owners on this board??

I have a 'new' Kramer off musicyo.com. Basically Gibson bought up kramer and is getting them going again, or something like that. I love my Kramer. I had to change the TOM because it was so rattly but for reduced sale price ($200) its not too important. The quadrail pickups on it sound really thick and meaty (if i can find better words) and the coil splitting adds to the versatility. The neck is pretty slim with a shallow C profile. I find it very comfortable and fast. To add to this the Gotoh tuners work very well so all in all, for the money i think Kramers are very good.

Re: Any...er Kramer owners on this board??

Well just came back from the first of them, the Pacer DeluxeII....the Floyd studs where leaning heavily, and the body needed repair where the studs where anchored.
Otherwise it was nice 87 with very little wear, and it had two APS-1's and a JB plus an org Floyd.
I will look at the other Kramer Pacer Deluxe later on, hopefully it will need no repairs....I really do not want to spend too much effort on them, fretwear is ok, but Floyd troubles is no fun.

I'm not really that big a fan of the "Floyd" Kramers, but I have an aluminum necked that I absolutely love! Amazing quality for the prices these days.

Re: Any...er Kramer owners on this board??

Hehe the next one I am going to give a try, has a white flip flop colourscheme....now that is a fun looking thing.
I hope that the Floyd studs are in better condition on that one.

It is this one.....dunno about that black pickguard though.....and that recessed cavity will take a hike....I hate them.
It has two APS-1's and a JB.
Probally going to keep those in it, don't have any guitars with JB's so...

Id love to get my hands on some of the old ones. Always wanted that odd shaped one the guys in Queensryche played in the early days.. Pacer Imperial I think it was..

Re: Any...er Kramer owners on this board??

I missed the boat. The prices went right down about three-five years ago where I live, and now they're creeping up again. Still, I hope to find a bargain baretta one of these days...

Re: Any...er Kramer owners on this board??

Big Kramer fan here!!!!. I've had a few through my hands, but currently only own one - an 87 Pacer Custom which I've had from new. They are great players guitars and come with all the right bits (OFR, Duncans). A good second hand one is better than most new guitars these days IMHO and can still be had for reasonable amounts. Here's mine......

Kramer Pacer Custom

Re: Any...er Kramer owners on this board??

I have a Kramer Pacer Deluxe, much like that antique white one with the pickguard shown above. The only difference is that it's black and has the hocky-stick tilted headstock. It's in serious need of a refret, and the Floyd doesn't stay in tune, but I think that's worn knife-edges because the posts seem pretty secure. Nice guitar.

Re: Any...er Kramer owners on this board??

Ah Rocker35 that is a nice Pacer CustomI:)
I was looking a CustomII yesterday, but the Floyd was in dire need of a resetup due to very slanted studs.....the innotation was way off.
I'll probally buy a Pacer Deluxe today, Flip Flop White:D

I was thinking about getting the Custom Les Paul, it's got the Elliptical, Slim-Taper neck. Does yours also have that one? I'm very excited about buying one, but I don't have a credit card (yet).

Re: Any...er Kramer owners on this board??

I love the old USA Kramers. I always wanted one back in the day, but never could afford one then. A couple of years ago, I started looking around for a late-80s Pacer or Baretta on E-bay, but found that most of them in excellent shape were really pricey. After some investigation, I decided to buy a NOS (new old stock) body and neck which were leftovers from the Neptune, NJ factory closure. After all was said and done, I had a new 1988 Baretta II for about $550. It took me about a year to wrangle-up all of the original hardware components and assemble it, but it has a brand new black Original Floyd Rose, black Schaller M6 Mini tuners, all new quality electronics including a TB-12 Screamin' Demon trembucker, even the correct neck plate, electronics cavity cover, and truss rod cover for the USA models. I could have bought a Baretta II used, but I doubt that I could find one in new condition for that kind of money. Plus, I had a good time working on the project and it totally rocks!

Re: Any...er Kramer owners on this board??

Well got my hands on a 88 Pacer Deluxe.
Unfortunally the JB's one coil was dead, got the price down over that.
Will use the rest of the pickup for a Hybrid job then.
The two single coils looks like APS-1's, it says 1Q on the bottom with a sticker and SD-2 88 stamped into the bottom of the coilplate.
It has the usual fretwear and the neck is amazing to play....
I am going to block the backwards motion of the Floyd and dunno if I am going to direct mount the pickups yet....
Probally just what ever humbucker I'll stick into it.
Somebody along the road swapped out the org tremarm for one of the newer ones...
And it is chrome instead of black...oh well it works.
The Floyd has no wear at all...amazing steel!!
I think my Demon has found a new home, will know that tommorow when I stuck it in.
I have cleaned the neck and the Floyd for the usual gunk...eek
The guitar has a nice ringing attack and a surprising amount of body for a floating Floyd equipped guitar....I think this is one very nice superstrat from my youth:D

Nice score Rid. How's this for coincidence - One of the coils on the JB in my Pacer Custom 'died' and the original arm mounting on the Floyd sheared and the only replacement I could get (about 7 yrs ago) was a chrome fitting!!!! :saeek:

I think the Demon will sound great in there!!! Clips please!!! :cool3:

Re: Any...er Kramer owners on this board??

Hehe spooky eh??
Thanks man....the other guy with the CustomII just lowered his price with 2000 Dkr....uh
Man I better get some more of my other junk sold...hehe that one is an 87.
Just blocked the backwards motion......that sure did something!!:D
Yeah I will get some clips done soon;)

Re: Any...er Kramer owners on this board??

Here is the pictures after a sligt renovation.
I fixed the dead JB by making a hybrid out of my Demon and the remaining JB coil.
It measured 13k....and sounded like a fat PAF..actually I rather liked the sound :burnout:
Will get some clips of that thing soon....and I finally tried it through a few amps today.....great sounding guitar...I am very pleased with it.
The neck is really great.
It is like a 69 strat neck I once tried, just a little more slender, but not too thin or flat, the rosewood is dark and has a nice grain...plus it makes the notes bloom in a nice way.
Hehe man I love it, it compliments the rest of my guitars rather well.
