any experience with a JD in a mahoghany tele?

Last time I posted you guys led me to the JD for my light ash tele, and I am impressed, love the tone.
Here's my question, I am starting a new tele build with a one piece mahoghany body, mahoghany neck with a rosewood board. My plans for pups were the JD and the alnico2 pro rhytym for tele. I was wondering if anyone has experience with them in mahoghany?
I am also using a spalted maple pickguard, don't know if that will have any tonal effect????????
