Any experience with any of these pedals??

Hi to all,

I was wondering if any of you guys had any exprience with any of the below named stompboxes, and what is your oppinion on them:

-Krank Maximus Distortus (Distortion)
-MXR Dime Distortion
-MXR Doubleshot Distortion
-T-Rex Bloody Mary Distortion
-Electro Harmonics Metal Muff Distortion (with Top Boost)
-MXR 10-band EQ

I kind of committed blasphemy by ordering a Bugera 6262 tube head (blasphemy since those are pure Peavey copies, the 6262 copied the Peavey 6505+), but I could not leave it for that money lol. I probably replace all its tubes with top-class ones, and hope to have a great amp for little bucks lol.

Any experience with the above named stompboxes?? Any of those would make a good addition on the amp?? I play high-gain stuff mostly.

Thanks in advance for any input.

if your amp is a direct copy of a 6105+ i don't think you will ever need any more distortion....

Re: Any experience with any of these pedals??

I'm just selling off a Double shot... it's too much for me! It has got alot of options, and you can use it like 2 channels BUT I found that the eq section of the pedal conflicted witht the eq on my amp. I'd give this one a miss if you are getting an amp that will give you EVH type tone!

Re: Any experience with any of these pedals??

the Metal Muff is AWESOME!!!

I never heard a distortion pedal sound this good.

Yep, it's a direct copy of a 6505+.
Agreed, there is enough distortion in the amp itself, but I am more after putting extra soundshaping options/types of distortion through pedals, like adding extra channels to the amp (it only has 2 standard).
I guess I will ad an EQ/boost in the form of the MXR 10-band EQ for sure, but am still looking for extra posibilities towards distortion types.

Thanks in advance for all your input so far guys, and keep them comming!!

One of my bro's plays a Metal Muff, but he uses as a boost for leads, you can shape the pallet of its grain pretty well and the boost knob is always nice but over all it could get pretty ice pick on the treble strings I guess its the price you pay for really nice and tight palm mutes. Since your amp is more or less a bright amp I dont know if it would be a great fit ...

Re: Any experience with any of these pedals??

BTW, love your sig, Bas is definately one the greatest ever, a fan of Bas since 1994.

Re: Any experience with any of these pedals??

I had a DoubleShot Distortion about a year ago, the first distortion is more of a hard crunch/fuzz even type, the second is the Dime Distortion.

It was a good pedal but not my style. It covered a good range of distortions/fuzz.

Re: Any experience with any of these pedals??

I have the Electro Harmonics Metal Muff Distortion (with Top Boost) and I'm a huge fan of it! :)

Re: Any experience with any of these pedals??

The Dime Distortion and the Double Shot were too mean sounding for me when I've tried them.
What sort of distortion are you trying to get?

I like the Boss pedals better then MXR (both companies are even better stock. Rats are cool, I've grown to like them...
Tone Bone and Fulltone make good pedals if you are willing to pay a little more...

Edit:
Actually compared to the MXRs it might be the same price.

Re: Any experience with any of these pedals??

Metal Muff Distortion + Top Boost is far superior to all of those other pedals. It's just amazing all around. Go for the Metal Muff!

The Double Shot is hit-or-miss depending on your amp...it's sort of a tempermental pedal...

Re: Any experience with any of these pedals??

I have to say to date my favorite Distortion pedal is the Rocktron Metal Planet
it really maked my cabinet move air a very tubey feel and raging realistic distortion ,the controls especially the mid, having low and high feq. adjustments give you unlimited tone choices plus its relitively cheap, its dead quiet even at max gain ,and its built like a tank...oh yeh and a super bright blue light and chickenhead knobs makes it look like a million bucks (>>specs reviews,soundclips>>>)http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Rocktron-Metal-Planet-Distortion-Pedal?sku=154230
I havent tried or heard the Metal Muff...great reviews or the Krank (Krank 'nuff said)pedal but definately wouldnt rule them out either

I just got a new Boss OS-2 overdrive/distortion and it completely blew me away. When practicing with the band I turn my amp up to ten wher its just starting to break up and blend the od/dist on the pedal to about 70:30 with the drive at about 2 o clock and it has a godly sound.
