Hi,

I am not a Fuzz guy, the Fuzz I use is the Fuzz Face Modeling on my

Zoom G2.1u, and a Cool Cat Fuzz,

Those with experience on

1) The MXR M-173 Classic 108 Fuzz

Pros.

Cons.

To Fuzz guys, Whats your opinion on it

2) I keep on hearing that the Cool Cat Fuzz is more of a Distortion Pedal than a Fuzz,

To Fuzz guys, Whats your opinion on it.

Thanks.

It's a pretty decent Fuzz Face style pedal...the buffer is a nice addition for some guys...guys that have and use stock/traditional wah pedals or guys that want a little more clarity from a Fuzz Face.

The pedalboard friendly size case is a nice addition for some players.

The DC jack is an advantage for some guys (that said, IMO it sounds far better when powered with batteries!).

I think that the Dunlop Hendrix Fuzz Face (the new blue one) is a "better" pedal but thats my opinion and you're might not be the same.

Best part about all this is that GC carries both the MXR and the Fuzz Face...go and try 'em!

it is a fuzz face man...and i believe there are better versions out there for the money. pretty in you face and does better with single coils than buckers. you can roll the volume and tone knobs back for alot of different tones.

as for the Dano. its a peach fuzz clone. pretty heavy wall of fuzz with a garage rock vibe. like a big muff that the stooges did coke off in 1972...

To TGWIF

You surely love Fuzz pedals :)

LoFiBrian - Havent tried the Frantone Peach Fuzz,

From there website

FRANTONE PEACHFUZZ.

Back by popular demand and better than ever. This 3-knob Peachfuzz fuzztone has all the great classic sound with 50% more gain, super quiet circuitry, and rockin' tone control. Truly the finest in lead-guitar tone, and a must for all serious players. Looking for a screaming cranked-to-ten amp-in-a-box, smooth singing fuzztone, and overdrive distortion all in one?

The Peach Fuzz Description, seems to suggest that its sorta Fuzz mixed with a little Overdrive/Distortion kinda pedal, Like the Cool Cat Fuzz

I like a lot of different fuzz pedals and use them depending on the tone I'm shooting for...

That said, I almost always find my way back to a germanium Fuzz Face.

They have plenty of fuzz for my needs, clean up to sparkling clean...even with humbuckers and offer a pretty wide range of OD and Distortion tones in between clean and fuzzy.

However, keep in mind...they are loose and almost muddy at times...they do lack the gain levels of almost any other fuzzbox out there and have little sustain on their own...not to mention they are tempeture sensitive and high quality/good sounding Ge trannys are getting harder and harder to come by.

So dealing with a Ge Fuzz Face is a pain in the neck but I find the results worth the work...

Best Value for money Fuzz Pedals?

I have to give a HUGE nod to the Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face...$150 new, handwired, made in America, top shelf parts and sounds fantastic!

A standard, Sunface from AnalogMan runs around $185 and at that price point can be had with your choice of 5 different transisters...

The Oxfuzz is getting rave reviews and is $175.

You can get a used (and now discontinued) Fulltone 70 pedal, which is the Fulltone take on a Silicon Fuzz Face for around $150-175.

Of course this all depends on what you have to spend...to a lot of guys $175 for a fuzz box is stupid money for others it's a steal...
