Any experienced Ebay Amp buyers?

Ok I'm about to Ebay a Dual Rectifier but I'm afraid to drop that cash to a complete stranger because I'm afraid something will be wrong with the amp........Has anyone else ever bought a tube amp of considerable amount on ebay? Did it work out ok? Both amps I'm looking at look cosmeticly clean, but that doesn't mean they're not crap. Am I just being too big of a wuss?

The first thing I ever bought off of ebay was actually my amp. The seller had great feedback and described the amp well. If the amp is something your interested and you have questions, email the seller. If you don't hear anything back then definately don't buy the amp. If you have more questions, email the seller again. Good luck!

Also make sure it is a good seller, check feedback, histroy and trade some emails. Also try to talk to him/her over the phone 8times out of 10 a scammer won't let you ask questions over the telephone. And the main piece of advice if you have ANY doubt....don't bid.

Re: Any experienced Ebay Amp buyers?

I bought my Fender SuperSonic off E Bay. The seller was a great guy. Got hold of me right away and offered to meet me halfway and exchange the amp in person (he lives maybe 90 miles away)! The amp is in like new condition, as he described it. No functional or even cosmetic issue whatever.

Not every deal goes down this smooth though. I know of people who received their amps poorly packed and totally beat up. All I can recommend is look at the pics well and ask questions. If the pics are blurry or dark, it might not be a good idea to bid. Even those practices won't guarrantee the deal will go well, but they'll help.

Good luck!

I couldn't agree more with ST. I always ask questions and if they don't respond then move on.

I have bought numerous amps off Ebay.

I generally don't buy without using a credit card unless they are within driving distance and are willing to meet over the item.
