Any fix for a "clanky" sounding guitar?

Re: Any fix for a "clanky" sounding guitar?

Dumb question but shouldnt those saddles have grooves??

Seems pretty stupid that they dont sell saddles for a tonepros bridge

Re: Any fix for a "clanky" sounding guitar?

The grooves are cut after the bridge is put on the guitar, so the builder has more control on string spacing.

Re: Any fix for a "clanky" sounding guitar?

I'm almost thinking to go a gauge lighter on the strings. I've played the D'Addarios before and got the similar sound that I think you're describing. It's kind of like putting acoustic strings on an electric.

If it's just on the Low E, I'd raise the action on the saddle a little bit. Just my thoughts before modding anything :-)

Re: Any fix for a "clanky" sounding guitar?

It kinda just hit me like a ton o bricks today why the tone is probably so much different on this guitar. Please tell me if you may agree.. This is a "2008 model" and its the only LP I have that has the weight relief chambers. Both my Burny (Lead Zepplin cuz it weighs at least 12 plus lbs) and my Trad Pro are no weight relieved. I imagine this could have alot to do with it have that snappy tone to it. My orig description of clanky is kinda harsh. It doesnt sound like something loose or broken vibration, Its just sounds plinky when you plug instead of growly like the others.

Could that be?

bump since I added addl thought as far as chambered body. thanks

Re: Any fix for a "clanky" sounding guitar?

The Standard 2008 isn't just swiss-cheese weight-relieved. It has a chambered body, that's almost completely hollowed out.
It does make a difference. It might not have the oomph of a solid body but it's very responsive to subtle playing styles, on the other hand.

yeah, It hit me like a ton o bricks the other day. I was expecting that it should ring when strummed like my Trad Pro or my Burny LP (which is solid and about 15 lbs.) But it doesnt, but it sounds fine running thru the amp.. So. I think its mostly just cuz the diff construction. Still saving up for a good setup tho
