Any flying v builders out there?

If anyone has any knowledge on this please post, here is the problem.
I have purchased a set of 58 Korina V templates from guitarbuilding templates.com and a nice slab of alder from guitar mill. Only to find out that there's not enough wood for the template to rest on. The template is huge compared to this standard sized body blank. My questions are, is a special blank required(this would seem like a waste of alot of wood) or is the v body actually 2 piece from one blank and gets glued together then routed. With the knowledge on this board I came here first before I call warmoth and ask them what the secret is. If the v thing doesn't work out, it'll make a nice strat. Thanks everyone.

Yea, it's probalby multiple pieces of wood, and yea, there could be a lot of waste.
It just depends on how you glue it up.

I'd glue up 2 wing pieces staggered from the center piece based on my template... like a neck-thru... hmmm... maybe just build is as neck-thru to begin with?

I'd return/sell the body blank and find a suitable number of 1 3/4" thick 6"-8" wide pieces with lengths based on whatever my template determines is suitable. (assuming you don't want to slice up the body blank, that is)

Good luck.

A typical V is 2 pieces. Look at the template and draw a line right down the middle from the neck joint to the bottom between the legs. Cut two pieces just like that and glue them together, then route.

You could also go the route of 3 pieces and make it like a neck-thru as mentioned above. The middle piece would be the thickness of what the neck would be at the last fret.

Either way, you'll need some good wood glue and good clamps to hold it together as it dries.
