any good recent new (free) bass amp sims?

Re: any good recent new (free) bass amp sims?

I've been using the Ignite bass amps for a couple of things, but they seem more suited for a harder rock sound.
For my clean sound, I'll just put the bass through a limiter, and then run it through the Ignite Pultec clone (that alone is worthy of being a commercial product).

Re: any good recent new (free) bass amp sims?

tried some tonight:

- ignite isn't bad on it's own - it adds a lot of clarity/high end crispness, but left me wanting to try something with some cab choices

- pod farm free is awesome! lots of options for amps, cabs, mics, compression, etc. My only concern was I had the treble cranked on the "80s" bass amp and it wasn't enough, so...

I ended up having one bass track direct, with compression + a copied version of it through BOTH ignite and pod farm (mixed louder than the direct bass). Resulted in a killer full bass tone. I didn't try it in the song mix yet, but it seems pretty nice on its own (I'll have to tweak gain & eq once I end up working it into the song):

(turns out the tune needed a lower/rumblier bass that the pod farm 80s delivers in spades)
