Any horn players out there? VINTAGE KING SILVER FLAIR TRUMPET (1960's)

Snake Aces

Singlecut Slut
I recently had this trumpet appraised for trade-in value at $450. I recently saw a few that were NEWER and WERE NOT in as good of shape go on Ebay for $650 to $750. Therefore I was not interested in doing a trade-in to say the least.

I am just curious if there are any horn players/collectors out there that know much about a mid 60's King trumpet. It's in excellent condition, well kept and only has one small ding that the guy who appraised it said could be fixed for about $15. Still has the original hardshell case and plays like a million bucks (none of the valves stick, very, very well kept as it was my mother's trumpet).

Anyone lookin for a good vintage trumpet or know what I could expect to get for it? I have a few projects I'm workin on and just yesterday joined a band again which is going to require buying more bass equipment... I could post pictures as well and give you the serial number via PM if needed.

Any help is appreciated... as always!

Right on, thanks for the advice!!

I'm going to bring it in tomorrow to have it completely reconditioned.

Alright, I'm glad I did that!

I just got her back today and WOW!!!!

It's prefect! No more ding and talk about a mirror shine!! I didn't know silver could ever clean up that good!

The guy who did the work said it's EXTREMELY rare to have a trumpet this old to be in such pristine condition and in his 20 years in the business he's only had 10 or so that have been in as good of condition when they are that old.

Anyways, he thought I should have no problems fetching $750 to $1100 for it now (depending on who I sell it to, collector's demand and current market). Good thing too cuz he charged me $80 for the reconditioning.

I was thinkin great!!...but... I still don't know how I'm going to sell it. Anyone think I should just Ebay it?? I obviously do not just want to trade it in on some gear and lose a few hundred bucks...

ebay it, is it a Super 20 model? also make sure to buy some 3m anti tarnish strips, so the silver doesn't get tarnished......
