. . . anyone in here own one of these full hollow slim line Ibby's ?

I am asking because i am looking for a thin body / full hollow as a starting point for some Humbucker sized pick ups.

Any info very welcome.

Don't own one, but I have played one and thought it was nice. I have a couple of Ibanez guitars including an Artstar AS-120.

I can tell you that I do like the Super 58 pickups. They are a vintage pickup, comparable to a Seth Lover, or at least in that vein. They are not coming out of my Artstar.

Do you know of any other affordable thin line full hollow, that has humbuckers ? (i.e. not the Epi Casino series)

Not many that I can think of right now. Perhaps Gretsch, Godin, and possibly Reverend. The Fender Coronado is a hollow thinline. A couple of the Gretsch guitars are thin and hollow, but have a solid top with painted on f-holes. Most of the guitars that are fully hollow will be thick-bodied. The thinlines will usually have a middle block. This cuts down on feedback, and allows for a stop-tail (or other embedded bridge style) that enhances tuning stability.

G&L offers semi-hollow versions of their ASAT and Legacy-bodied guitar; and you can even get semi-hollow Jaguars. But thin, fully hollow guitars are not abundant.

Oh, if you've got the big bucks...you can always invest in a Gibson ES-330 (the Gibson version of the Cansino), ES-350T, or a Byrdland. But in the affordable category, there's not much there, that I know of.

Looking at images on the net, it looks like the 77T and the 75Y is pretty much the same guitar.

Few questions for you then :

What is the quality of the Bigsby ? The action, the feel. Does it stay in tune after 30min of action ?

How does the guitar sit against your body / feel when sitting down ?

When playing very clean (amp wise) does the guitar sound more acoustic-like in its tonal properties, or does it sound more like a semi (i.e. ES-335) like ?

With the Bigsby, is it still a light guitar ? . . . or does that extra hunk of metal push it into a heavier category ?

The Godin 5th avenue uptown GT is a fully hollow jazz archtop:

Godin's 5th avenue stuff is built in north america, and pretty nice to play. They're not super thin, but they're not thick bodied. The dual p90 version the Kingpin II is cheaper but still made in NA:

Those Godin 5th Avenues are gorgeous. And I don't even like Bigsby's but could make it work with one of those. That P90 version is just beautiful.

Yeah, other than color, I honestly don't know what differences there were between the 75 and 77.

On to the questions...

Bigsby: It's...fine? Definitely more stable with heavier strings. I either have it strung with a set of heavy-bottomed 11s or a regular set of 12s. I can't recall. When I had 11-49s (my go-to for 24.75" scale guitars) on it, it was VERY temperamental. Now it's only a little bit so.

Feel against the body: Pretty much like a 335, if a 335 was made of plastic. I'm not a huge finish snob, with regards to nitro vs. poly, but some finishes just feel like a really thick candy shell. This is one of those finishes.

Weight: Lightish. I haven't weighed it, but my other two electrics are a chambered LP and a Danelectro 59, and I don't notice any huge shifts when switching.

Acousticness: Pretty much none. I mean, it's got some volume unplugged, so it's not that the body isn't resonating, but plugged in you could close your eyes and believe it was a solidbody all day. There's really nothing airy or woody or whichever other word we like to use to describe semi-acoustics about the sound. That was true with the stock pickups and remains true with the $$$ boutique pups I put in it.

As you can probably surmise, I don't play this guitar a ton. It's been a small disappointment. It would be bigger if I'd paid retail, but this was a pawn shop find that I got for very little, and looks cool hanging on the wall. Also, its very (very) dark sound works pretty well for slide, so I've currently got one of those capo slide-converter things on it and have tuned it to Open D.

Looking at images on the net, it looks like the 77T and the 75Y is pretty much the same guitar.

If you're going for chimy/woody, you might need to go in a different direction, like Gretsch or something...

That being said, I have an AS83 - I know, not fully hollow - which, IIRC, has the same pickups in it, and they sound awesome. I'd originally planned on changing them out, maybe put in some Seths, then I played it at "No One Else Is Home" volume, and... yyyeeaaaaahhhhhhhh, it's staying stock.

the Godin unit is a good inexpensive guitar when set up properly. Another guitar in this same category that I found played well when set up good was a Guild. It had a wicked cool slide tone (think "Bad to the Bone") and it had a very cool jazz tone too. I think it was near the $1000 dollar mark to purchase after discount

yamaha makes a copy of a gibson 175 that was so close they got sued over it. I think there is one on Ebay right now in the $800 range. Wile a gibson 175 is not as nice as say......an L5 or a 335, its still a nice guitar. there's some dude on Utube strumming an L5 and a 335 for a comparison and wile the L5 is nicer, the gibson 175 comes off sounding pretty good too. Check that out and Premier Guitars's Rig Review of Pat Benatar's guitar player. He has a couple that he talks about. He claims there good stage guitars. The Yamaha version is called the Yamaha Jazz S50? I have never played one of these. Maybe someone on this forum has one or has owned or played one. It would be a nice alternative to buying something brand new that wasn't as nice as a gibson 335. The quality would probably be a little better if you could stand buying a used guitar. Some people are picky about that I guess.

Greco makes a gibson 335 copy they got sued over too. I have not played a Greco SV1200 ether.

also check out a Gibson 135, still a little cheaper then the gibson 175. They are in the $1000 to 1100 range. Never played one of these ether. couple guys here on the forum liked them.

You guys, I lied sorry. Neil the guitar player from Pat Benatar uses Gibson es 135's with Bigsbys on stage not Gibson es175. He claims they sound "great".
