Any Muff lovers?

So, who loves the Muff, and what type do you go for?

I've got a Bass Big Muff, which seemed the best low-cost approximation of a Russian Muff at the time, and a Deluxe Big Muff, with the attack control, noise gate, and the footswitchable mids control.

The Bass Big Muff is for big, thick riffs, and the Deluxe is for lighter, less intense fuzz, and fuzzy leads.

I simply adore the Muff. My favorite so far is the good old-fashioned Big Muff Pi, current production of which is on my shopping list. Also have the Germanium 4 and the new Russian, which are both cool.

I have a Bubble Font Green Russian, but I'd like to sell it and get a JHS Muffuletta. The Green Russian sounds pretty good, but I'd like to have a bit more versatility.

I have a Little Big Muff (medium-size three knob early 2000s thing.) Cool every once in a while, but not my "main" thing. I actually find the Devi Ever US can cover much of the same sonic realm at the same time as being more versatile; but I don't use that pedal much either.

The JHS looks awesome, just so versatile, it must be great to have in the studio. I think I remember seeing them do a similar thing with the Tubescreamer circuit.

The Germanium one looked very interesting, a different kind of sound.

Yours? Nice photo. It’s almost comical how big the Pi is compared to all the others. I imagine standing on a stage in 1969, several years before I was born, with a guitar, a coiled cable, an amp, and pedals on the floor. It doesn’t matter how big they are, because I can’t imagine having more than two of them, and they’re such a novelty that I’ll make room for them. Pedalboard? Power supply? What are those, man?

Yes, three Skreddys, a Righteous Tones Sonic Mayhem which is supposed to be a Triangle Clone, 70’s OpAmp with tone stack mods from J. Evermann, Swollen Pickle mkII, Euthemia ICBM (OpAmp based), Supercollider (Green Russian based) and a clone of the original Swollen Pickle before they were reissued.

I’ve wanted to “build” a board (PT Pro) for all my big box effects just for fun, I think I have 4 EHX plus the Big Muff, a big Fuzz Face and I’d add a wah, Whammy and whatever else fits!

Russian type into OpAmp circuit. I couldn't justify getting one as I have the Bass Big Muff as my Russian-style (and now I could just get the nano IC from EHX), but I was always curious.

Funnily enough, not long after I posted that, I found a video of Rabea talking about his five favourite pedals of the time, one was the Pumpkin Pi. I think the combination of brighter, sharper OpAmp Muff with the thicker, darker Russian-style is a good one, but a mix of two older styles would be great to have.

Part of the reason pedals needed to be big and heavy was so they didn't move around when you moved on stage, and so they were roadworthy being packed up and hauled from gig to gig. There were no pedalboards with cases back then. And you really didn't have more than one or two because there just weren't that many options, certainly not affordable.

Big fan. I had a NYC for the longest time, then thanks to some people in this forum I gave the JHS a try and I now have a Hoof on my board.

I had one of the original Green Russian Muffs but sold it years ago. The only one I have now is a stomp under foot version of a civil war muff and I absolutely love it.

I used to use a Tone Wicker Muff, which was ok. I now have a BMF Effects Aries Fuzz, fabulous Muffy fun with a mids control.

I have the Version 9 BMP. I have an early V9. I also recently got the new version of the Russian one in the smaller pedal size. I had a late Russian one and took it back and got the made in USA V9 designed by Fran Blanch. I like the JHS Muffuletta. I also like the Muffroom Cloud pedal. My first effect ever was a Muff Fuzz. I wish I still had it.
