Any Muff lovers?

Re: Any Muff lovers?

Tonight i dreamed of having some kind of Big Muff. It was made for bass and had a mellow tone. It had four ordinary controls with weird little toys attached to them and then it had smaller pots with broken knobs that controlled some very interesting parameters but could not be turned.

Other than that i prefer the fuzz face. A deeper, more complex sound to me.

Not a collector and I haven't compared a bunch side by side. Wish I still the original one I used back in the 70s. These days I'm happy with a VFE Fiery Red Horse. Got it because of its versatility and because I really like my Pale Horse (their take on the TS circuit). Six controls make them pretty flexible.

This one's a V1 from when they still had a mids knob, with a switch to choose germanium, silicon, or pure op-amp distortion in the second drive stage. Later ones had a Bass control instead of mids, and a blend knob giving access to drive choices across a continuous spectrum.

Zen Drive works well as a light bass fuzz

Re: Any Muff lovers?

I have a RocketSquawk Civil War Muff clone. Haven't gotten to play it much in the past several months, been so busy, but I dig it.

I Really like the smooth shaven metal nano muff.

It's my "other" dirt box onboard.

Re: Any Muff lovers?

I have a Little Big Muff (medium-size three knob early 2000s thing.) Cool every once in a while, but not my "main" thing. I actually find the Devi Ever US can cover much of the same sonic realm at the same time as being more versatile; but I don't use that pedal much either.

Correction; I think I meant the Soda Meiser. I took the thing out for the first time in a while and remembered the US is more zipper/velcro than a Muff by far, and not really Muff-like at all really.

Re: Any Muff lovers?

Is the Soda Meiser the name of the Devi Ever pedal?

Yes; actually mine is the left-half of a Rocket.

Actually I never really liked this pedal, and kept it mostly in a box... But trying it a couple days ago I realized I actually now like the Soda Meiser quite a bit; like a thicker, tighter Muff that cuts. But I think a lot of people make pedals who do that, so really I just keep it for the art:
