Any Nashvillians that play Non-Country?

I don't know if there is a better place for this thread, I'm kinda new around here.

I live in Nashville, TN, and I have been wanting to get involved in the (not country) music scene around here, but I don't know where to start. I am not looking to be a professional musician or anything, I just want to meet some people, play some shows, and have a good time. My experience with music has been starting a band in high school and booking a few gigs. I'm really into most genres outside of country.

Are there any of you out there from Nashville?

Every Monday night at the Bluebird Mike Henderson does his blues show. It’s a must see keep sorta thing. The man plays like Ry Cooper and sings like Kim Wilson. Very talented guy, plus e writes songs with Chris Stapleton and has penned hits for a variety of people.

Is that the same Bluebird that is/was featured on the show Nashville?

I’ve never seen the show but yes I believe it’s the same place. Mike has been a Monday night fixture tree since long before the TV show.

Lot of non Country music comes out of Nashville. Several of the Christian session players i know live and work there mostly rockers and they rarely if ever play Country. Will see what I can find out.

You should go talk with the guys at Eastside Music Supply. They're plugged into the local rock scene pretty well from what I see on their FB feed.
