aNY NEW duncan pickups next year ?

Re: aNY NEW duncan pickups next year ?

There will be a new artist pickup set next year.

There will be a new hum-canceling Strat pickup.

There will be a new D-TAR under-saddle transducer.

There will also be a new pedal (available Spring of '06).

Details to follow.

Re: aNY NEW duncan pickups next year ?

Are we making a Santa Skopp list? :)

I'ld like to see a Tele bridge Cool Rails, and a "rail" version of the Phat Cat.

And, if they simply called the Stag Mag a "neck" pup, I think they'ld be ahead of the game.

I THINK THEY Should re-design the STAG mag. or get rid of it.

Considering most people probably don't feel this way, if you don't like it then move on. Its dumb to say they should re-design a pickup because it wasn't to your liking, hince why they have numerous models to choose from.

iHails Vinterland, i said that because the stag mag is the ´pickup that people here in the forum TALK LESS ABOUT IT.
so, i guess it´s not a famous one..
thats what i based my opinion when i said red rid of it
not because it didn´t suit for me

Re: aNY NEW duncan pickups next year ?

I'd like to see some Alnico 4 Strat single coils, with larger rod magnets, somewhere between normal and Quarter Pounder, but closer to QP.

And with covers that will fit over the larger mags so your color choice isn't always black, black, black or black.

Re: aNY NEW duncan pickups next year ?

I'm betting the cash cow that it's the Mustaine Sig. set. There was quite the scurry about his new pickups not to long ago.

Re: aNY NEW duncan pickups next year ?

my wish list:
"half shred"-single coil sized full shred
hybrid of an invader and dimebucker :headbang:

Re: aNY NEW duncan pickups next year ?

A '59 (or other low output hummer) with a ceramic magnet could be interesting

Re: aNY NEW duncan pickups next year ?

Here's what I would like to see next year, or consider this my imagination:

1) A new pickup (actually, 3, one per magnet type) that will allow you to subtract windings instead of split, might make for variable sounds.
2) A pickup combination that leads to an EQ (when averaged together) of 6/6/6, call it Satan's Duncan or something. Would come only in "insanely high output" model and would emphasize tritones (diminished-4th, the "devil's chord").
3) A pickup possibly with the ability to shift its peak frequency.
4) A pickup with a peak frequency at a focused note, like "a pickup that has a screaming ultra-high-E (24 fret models)" or something, or "ultra-heavy-low-E".
5) A pickup combo with emphasized bass and treble only, but "smooth" treble, sort of like the Jazz but with "balls".
6) An ultra-high-output pickup in the Jazz lineage, something that is very loud but very clear.
7) A way to buy the '59 (4-wire) + JB as a combo, bill it like this: "Seymourize your ESP!"
8) A pickup that makes magnet changes possible, for testing purposes mainly.
9) A way to pay to "rent" a testing pickup, possibly like above, in a method that allows the player to mix and match pickups until they find the one they want (they install base station and add pickup).
10) A LOT More thorough testing and better sound clips, but focusing mainly on clean sounds. (Distortion is nice to hear, but I'd rather hear the pickup "naked" so I can get a feel for the tone, like have chords strummed, power chords played. With different "baseline" instruments, like in an ESP with the maple+mahogany body, etc).
11) Possibly three-dimensional response graphs to the EQ and/or output, so we can see how the pickup "thinks".
12) Seymour Duncan to release a solo album! (hey it's not far fetched! :))
13) Seymour Duncan to sell "seymourized" guitars, sort of like Saleen for Fords and Lingenfelter for Chevrolet cars, etc. I'd SO love to just buy a seymourized guitar up front, not have to buy then modify.

I know, I think too much :)

Mustaine signature

That's what my money is on. After all, their project with Dave Mustaine is hardly going to be a kit for "Lengthening, curling, and dying your hair strawberry in just three easy steps!", is it?
