Any other C5 users?

I just ordered my C5 for the bridge position of my G&L Asat Deluxe; for no other reason that Gear Joneser suggested it, and since his advice on the CC for the bridge of my Dean was dead on, I figure I'd go with it.

Any other users of the C5 out there, and want to comment on the pup? I play anything from crystal cleans to hard rock/metal.

I love mine. In fact, I just got another one from Lew. I think of it as a great "country" pickup. Its currently in the bridge of my Tele-clone. Has just the right amount of "twang", but is still rich and full.

Its a great pup.

Weird how your tastes change. I thought all I would even need would be the JB...but as time goes by, I'm digging the CC type pup more and more. More open and full.

Yeah. I don't really like it that much though, it doesn't work for me.

Tuned down though it's great for metal, plenty of punch from the bass, and the clarity stays.

It's got this sound, that should be great, but just misses something... It's like it can't decide whether it's vintage sounding or modern/aggressive. That might be a good thing though for you. It's a pup that kinda bridges the gap IMO

It actually has great cleans for a hot-ish humbucker and splits alright too..

That'll work....I'm the sole guitar player in a female fronted band. As such, I have to cover alot of sonic ground during a full gig.

I used to have one...liked it for a bit, and then the honeymoon period was over. I found it to be lacking in the mids a bit, and not quite aggressive enough. I swapped the magnet for a ceramic and the Custom now resides in my mohogany Schecter, and it's not comming out.

Personally like mine alot. I think they work alot better in Darker guitars myself such as Mahagony body rosewood board stuff.

It's funny you mention it, because I just did some experimentation with my G&L Legacy Deluxe. I tried the JB, CC, and C-5, and while the CC had a nice fatness to the sound, I went back to the C-5. I just like it's tighter lows and airy highs. I think it's the ideal pickup for mahogany bodies, although I can see why some would find it hollow in some guitars. Nuntius's reason is the exact thing I like about it....it bridges the gap between vintage and modern, so your guitar and amp really dictate which direction it'll go.

By the way, I love the guitar you're bidding on. Maybe I'll snipe it! LOL just kiddin

I was just testing the waters on that guitar. I REALLY shouldn't be picking up another....but that one sure would round out the collection, huh? Either that or I'm considering ordering a Heritage H150 (or god help me, finding an LP Standard for a good price used).

I'm discovering the fun in accepting one guitar won't do it all and increasing the collection to hit it from all angles.
