any way for me to determine if pickups are installed correctly

Hi SD friends...I have had SD black upcovered pearly gates pickups in one of my guitars (lefty malden karma) for a few months now and really enjoy the sound...I had not jammed out with decent volume till the other night...so we are cranked up and rocking and I am (like I usually am) using the bridge pickup and am enjoying the sound. For ****s and giggles I move to the neck...well I was shocked...it was full lound and powerfull with a real nice sound...and not muddy at all...I was really shocked...so much so that I began to wonder (due to the power) if perhaps the tech who installed the pups had put the neck in the bridge and vice vera...of course it may be the case that the neck pu just kicks serious ass and I had not discovered it yet...also I should mention though I don't know if it would matter, the tech split the pickups and put a push pull knob on both pickups...

so is there an easy way for a boob (I have never taken apart a guitar and have no testing equipment of any kind) to tell if the pickups are installed in the right spot? or before taking it somewhere...what would the process entail and how much should it cost to check this out...I am using a different guitar tech and he is currently setting up another axe for me so I will be bringing it to this new guy....thanks much...

The easiest thing you could do is to borrow an ohmeter from a neighbor etc...Plug a guitar cable into the jack of your guitar and stick the meter across the negative and positive sides of the cable...By switching through the different pickup positions,you'd be able to see the resistance readings of the pickups in question....Or let a tech do this for you.

Just look at the pickups.

On the bridge pickup the screws will be on the same coil with the seymour duncan logo.

On the neck pickup the slugs will be on the same coil with the seymour duncan logo.

Yep within 2 minutes the tech can tell you the resistance readings of both pickups and jot down those readings for you...Normally the bridge pickup is the higher resistance read pickup...
