Some silver polish or similar. Mask off the poles so it won't get down there and go white.

Re: Any way to take :Seymour Duncan" logo off the pickup?

Toothpaste or Brasso (brass polish) are 2 of the time tested methods. I`ve always heard pencil erasers work, too, but never got around to trying it. ;)

Some mothers aluminum mag polish and the soft foam attachment on a dremel on the slow speed.

has Duncan used different paint? because I've had some logos I could wipe right off with nail polish remover and some that nothing could take it off.

If the logo is under the clear coat, you will have a hard time removing it without using a fairly strong solvent... if it is on top of the clear coat, it can be removed in a variety of ways.

I used to chafe at the thought of having logos on my pickups but I have come around to them and feel proud to have the SD logo on my pickups... it's a badge of honor really.

Re: Any way to take :Seymour Duncan" logo off the pickup?

I removed the logo using some 8000 grit polishing paper. In fact it's also great for removing scratches if you slip with the screwdriver for those who are fussy.

Re: Any way to take :Seymour Duncan" logo off the pickup?

I can't see a problem with the logos. Did you scratch the Gibson logo off the guitar as well? What about your clothes, do you remove any brand labeling from them? Your shoes? Your car? Did you fill in your Floyd Rose logo with bondo? Do your amps and pedals still have logos on them? Did you rip the numbers off your house and take down the street signs so no one knows where you live? What about your mailing address so they don't know what city or state? You're advertising for all those as well, right?

Seriously, the whole "I'm advertising someone's product without $$ compensation $$ !!" is getting really, really old.

If you want unlogoed pickups, there are many questionable import models out there who are dying for your business. If you use Duncans, use them proudly. If you don't want people to know you're still using Duncan Designed, upgrade.

Or just stay home and mail your CD to whatever venue you'd play, that way they don't even know what you look like.

Re: Any way to take :Seymour Duncan" logo off the pickup?

Brasso metal polish and a soft cloth worked for me. I only ever did this once when I had a no-logo '59N and a Custom with a logo. I took the logo off the Custom so they matched.

Hyperbole much?

He doesn't like logos on his guitar. You don't have a problem with them. If a half-century on this dirtball has taught me anything, it's that in matters of taste, people have a right to like what they like.

Re: Any way to take :Seymour Duncan" logo off the pickup?

I'm just trying to understand the logic behind it because it seems a bit pervasive these days. People feel that they're advertising a pickup for free, I wanna know how far this line of thinking extends, and how they react to those other branded products in their daily life.

As long as you're not shattering sheetglass in the sh__house and shouting shlogans, I fail to see how a general nobody like the rest of us is advertising any given product. No one cares what you use, because you're not a "Big Name". 'Big Names" care about things like product logos because they ARE advertising those products simply by being seen with them. Regular nobodies like us care about what the Big Names are using so we can feel like we have the same tonal taste as they do so we feel better about being nobodies.

Oh, well I'll just leave them there. It's true everything has a logo on it now a days. Thanks for the great suggestions. :) I may be a nobody but I paid for them and I have to look at them.

It's a purely aesthetic thing. If you don't want logos on there then of corse you should remove them. It might have nothing to do with branding at all, perhaps the guitar just looks better without them.

SD don't seem to have a problem with this line of thinking, as they let you order any pickup you like with or without logo..

If you don't want them on there, remove them. They're your pickups purchased with your money, and no one here or anywhere else gets to tell you what to do with them. If you don't like the logos, you are more than entitled to take them off.

You can send them to Custom Shop for bobbin swap or they just turn the plastic inside out...
If the sandpaper effs up.

Here's an example you might be able to relate to. Have you ever bought a used car from a dealer? You're driving away in your Ford or Toyota or whatever, and nobody thinks anything of it. But invariably, there's a license plate frame from the dealer on the car. I never feel like I'm advertising for the car company, but I always feel like I'm advertising for the dealership until I get a chance to get different license plate frames.

For the record, names on pickups don't bother me in the least, though I'd rather have something that says BASSLINES on it than DUNCAN DESIGNED.

I am the same way. I don't mind my Duncan logos, I think of them as a badge of honor. My car? I strip all of the dealership logos off of it the second I get it home. The plate and the badges/stickers on the trunk.
