Any way to take :Seymour Duncan" logo off the pickup?

Re: Any way to take :Seymour Duncan" logo off the pickup?

I personally think that the Seymour Duncan logo looks classy as well as DiMarzio, but there are some pickups out there that just have horrendous logos. I totally get why the OP wants to remove them, but for me Seymour Duncan is one of the nicer looking ones.

I can't see a problem with the logos. Did you scratch the Gibson logo off the guitar as well? What about your clothes, do you remove any brand labeling from them? Your shoes? Your car? Did you fill in your Floyd Rose logo with bondo? Do your amps and pedals still have logos on them? Did you rip the numbers off your house and take down the street signs so no one knows where you live? What about your mailing address so they don't know what city or state? You're advertising for all those as well, right?

Seriously, the whole "I'm advertising someone's product without $$ compensation $$ !!" is getting really, really old.

If you want unlogoed pickups, there are many questionable import models out there who are dying for your business. If you use Duncans, use them proudly. If you don't want people to know you're still using Duncan Designed, upgrade.

Or just stay home and mail your CD to whatever venue you'd play, that way they don't even know what you look like.

Maybe I missed something, is it possible to upgrade from Duncan Designed? :scratchch
In my neck of the woods, have a couple friends who inscribe "Duncan" or "Seymour Duncan" on their stock pups to make them look better! Respecting everyone's preference but the "upgrade" from a Duncan caught my attention. I didn't know such a thing was possible in music...not from the SD brand....really haven't heard a collection better than what I've found with SD but would like to read other's experiences and preferences. Thanks!

Re: Any way to take :Seymour Duncan" logo off the pickup?

I have to remove the logos on two of my pickups that are in a Les Paul, because they've just recently changed the font used for the logo and now I've got two pickups that don't match. If they matched I'd leave them there (indeed, I specifically ordered them with logo), but the not matching thing really bugs me.

On all my guitars, having the logo there or not is just one of the decisions involved in how I want the guitar to look. On my 80s superstrats, having the logo there totally fits in with the look of the instrument. On my vintage-looking Strat, I have Stack Plus pickups in cream, without the logo, because that's what's right for the look of the guitar. I have one LP with logos and one without.

You could use lighter fluid if there is a clear coat, without harming the product, just make sure you apply it to the actual area. I also use lighter fluid when removing excess glue from pickguards and acoustic guitar tops, without any negative effect on the finish.
Anyway, that's the way you can do it. i won't pass judgement on why you wanna do it, I don't really care. It's your pickup, and your call. Hope that helps.
