Anybody ever compare the EVH Frankenstein with the Custom Custom?

Re: Anybody ever compare the EVH Frankenstein with the Custom Custom?

I use the '78 model in the bridge of my H-H Strat. It sounds bright on its own, lots of bite, but really cuts in the mix. The low end is not overblown and while personally I don't find it too "spongy" it has it's own feeling going on and responds to changes in attack like a champ. One of the few pickups I think is worth the money. I know it's not one of the pickups you asked about, and I haven't used the CC or the Frankie, but it is another tonal iteration to get you in the EVH tone ballpark (at one point in his career) and I can highly recommend the the '78.

Agreed, the '78 is a pretty glorious pickup. One of my all-time favorites from the Duncan camp.

Pretty much all of the EVH-designed and EVH-inspired pickups SD has ever produced represent the best of their class. Whether you pick up a '78, a Frankie, an IM1 or an original SH-5 Custom, you're sure to get a lively pickup with a great deal of expressiveness, excellent harmonic characteristics and a versatile, pro level tone all around :headbang:
