Anybody ever try Sentell stuff?

Re: Anybody ever try Sentell stuff?

I don't doubt the rewinding service is probably decent, but I have seen more than a handful of his "original" designs that made me hit my head on the table and many instances of sub-par craftsmanship/finish work. Some of the stuff he has up on the 'bay now looks a bit improved, but, considering half the reviews on his website are written in the same style with the same obvious grammatical errors and there's only a couple real reviews on the web, I remain suspicious. Plus, when you stumble across remarks like "better than BareKnuckles, Fralin, etc...", you've got to question the validity of those claims.

I know his pickups used to cost half of what they do now. Maybe they were a "bargain" a year or so ago, but I can think of several other winders who I'd rather hand $80 to for a "custom" pickup than take a chance on one of these after what I've seen.

last year got couple strat style sc ;1 had ugly unusual sized slugs & did look hand assembled for sure,w/ bent bobbin.
But it somewhat rivals the tone output of the over wound bridge of the original x-1 in a lead II or smith strat. I cannot speak to other models or humbuckers.
The other one I have not tried yet,it looks machine wound and pretty standard I think it was called "anomaly" which seemed kind of unfitting.
Except that it has soft alnico slugs (you can dent 1 with the edge of a pick).
