Anybody ever

Re: Anybody ever

No, but I prolly should.. I just keep hoping Ill lose the belly instead, but that isnt working out so well

Re: Anybody ever

sort of - I had one of those peavey plank-of-wood type guitars. not a bad axe, but so sharply cut on the edges and uncomfortable on my picking arm that I finally took a file and sandpaper to it to make it more comfortable to play. it worked for a bit, but I ended up selling it.

Yep, in a Peavey Reactor tele copy. I did the forearm cut (the one thing I hate about tele's), decided to do a belly cut too. It's subtle, but it helps a bit, moreso when sitting.

Re: Anybody ever

I'm not really certain how belly cuts help. Might be because I'm a skinny fellow, but to me it just seems to put the guitar at an awkward angle. Is it supposed to leave room for your belly when you stand up? Because in that case, you'd need to keep it low. Real low. Like Johnny-Ramone-low. Or am I just too thick to figure out how a simple wood cutaway works? Someone help me out here.

Well for me personally, I have two LP shaped guitars, one has a belly cut and arch top, the other has no cut and is a flat top, real weird goin from one to the other. I prefer the former. That said, I could prob use a few laps around the block, and less late night drunken snack-a-thons.

Re: Anybody ever

I put a DEEP belly cut and as deep as possible forearm cut in every guitar I build or modify...makes a Strat seem like a straight plank.

They are the most comfortable guitars I have ever played...they just fit sooo good they almost seem to disappear. Hardly even feel them while I'm playing.
