anybody here have the Epiphone 58 Korina Explorer?

Re: anybody here have the Epiphone 58 Korina Explorer?

is there a way to tell from the serial number where (china/korea/???) and when it was made?
where might the serial number be located?

and how do explorers play while seated?

Serial # should be stamped on the back of the headstock.

I play mine seated all the time. It's not as bad as you might think. You definitely get used to it.

instead of starting a N(belated)GD thread, i thought i'd just tack on to my original, so you all know the details

i'm really happy with the way this thing plays. i'm surprised that the fat neck feels so comfy, when i'm used to LTD and Jackson necks.
the upper fret access is MUCH better than the LTD EC400vf (full thickness body). its such a fun guitar to play.

If you're concerned about it being neck-heavy, move the strap button to the back of the heel like it is on the Gibson '76 reissues. Problem solved.

I put a levys tear wear cotton strap on my epi explorer, it works very well.

I had one and miss it! I paid $100 more than that for it... Its neck is a D shape, but its really wide so it feels huge in the hand. They are really nice guitars. From what I read though, some have a korina veneer on the top and back and other's were real Korina all the way through... However, I am not sure how to tell... perhaps a peek inside the pickup or control cavities?

Anyway, congrats, its a beautiful guitar.
