Re: Anybody here using the Distortion Meyhem SH-6 set?
Waiting for you to come along.:cool2: How does it compare from alder to mahogany? How does it work with drop tuning? I'm looking to put them in a maple neck thru with mahogany wings. C# standard tuning.
And Randy alos used stock Gibsons in his Les Paul. But that's not why ew are here.
The Distoriton is my favorite high output pickup period. It's my #1 pup, in my #1 guitar.
It is a mid/treble heavy pickup, with enough bass, and very tight bass. It allows you to run the bass up on the amp, and the distortion, and not get muddy. It has more chucnk than thud, if that makes sense. Amazing crunch. It will cut through and scream/shriek/wail - whatever you want to call that bend up from the 22nd fret.
It cleans up ok. The cleans are obviously ceramic cleans, but it isn't total dirt all the time no matter what. Then again, cleans are not what it is all about. I dig the cleans a lot more than i thought I would as ceramics go.
And of course, hot hot hot. Comes across as a very response pickup with not just flying out immediately to the touch. Harmonics all over the place leap off the neck.
It's a go to guitar for Judas Priest, whereas my Super Distortion works more for Iron Maiden.
