Anybody know Charvels?

Re: Anybody know Charvels?

original schmigional. Put a JB in there ;)

I've actually owned that model of guitar before. I think Gibson 175 is right. The JB in the bridge with the floyd rose would be a great tone unless your hot for EMG's. I not big on EMG's but with a Floyd Rose-a Jb humbucker is almost unbeatable.

Re: Anybody know Charvels?

JB's just fit right in my Charvels...even considering pulling out a distortion in one for a JB. FYI The toothpaste logo didn't come in until '90-'91 I believe, just an FYI on dating.

Re: Anybody know Charvels?

Not sure about the original pick ups but if you have the choice I'd put a Kahler in it rather than a Floyd. Might take a bit of body work but well worth the effort. I just had a Floyd removed from a Jackson Soloist SL1 and I'm having a Kahler put in it. If you haven't tried a guitar with a Kahler and a Floyd I'd suggest you do. Get the feel for them both. My opinion is the Floyd is to sensitive and its in the way of my picking hand. I personally am a Seymour Duncan fan when it comes to pick ups, they have all the bases covered. Try some guitars and pick the brain of the guys at the store in regards to whats in the guitars your trying. See what sounds good "LIVE" not on the internet. Good Luck.

Re: Anybody know Charvels?

Those pics look sketchy. Don't Charvels say " Made in " under the Charvel logo behind the body? I don't mean the " USA " that it says in the bottom. That's down there even in Mexican models.

Not the older Charvels. Only since the Pro Mods.

As far as the headstock.. Darn shame.. However, maybe someone cut it down cuz it was A) damaged bad or B)they were afraid they would poke someones eye out with it..
