Anybody know someplace that will reline guitar cases?

I'd like to refit a brown rectangular Gibson case for a different shape guitar, and have a 70's Anvil amp case where the foam has disintegrated over the years. Plus I'm considering a used case whose handle is gone. I can find lots of DIY articles and one place that will relic new cases, but I haven't had any luck finding places that do case repairs.

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

You might want to drop an email to G and G case company here in Los Angeles. They've been in the case business for a long time, they do do custom work, and they're very easy to talk to. They will be building the custom case for my extra long scale P Bass that I'm building.

You want a luggage repair shop. But in the end, might be better to buy a new case.

Not sure where you are in NY but Road Cases USA is located in Holbrook. Shipping your Anvil, just to replace the foam, will be expensive and the closer you can find, the better off you will be.

I always wondered if I could get this done to wind up with a secret compartment or two.

Good suggestion, thanks.

Why not take the existing lining out, get a piece of firm upholstery foam (memory foam) cut it to fit the case exactly & then cut the required shape out?

Luggage repair shop is a great idea for replacing the handle.
Upholstery place for relining... maybe.
Might send the roadcase to Holbrook, thanks.
As for DIY with memory foam, it may come to that. But if possible I'd prefer to keep the interior Gibson Pink.

If you've got money to burn on repairing your cases, good for you. But you'll probably find that it will be twice as expensive as buying new cases.

I've built cases before and there's no way I would repair a case for someone for less than the cost of a new one.

Re: Anybody know someplace that will reline guitar cases?

I decided against refitting the brown case. Gonna use it for one of my Firebirds as it was originally intended. Not going to buy the used one with the missing handle- they want $650 for it, plus $99 to ship it over from Germany. That's more than my last guitar cost me and no, I don't have money to burn... I think the guitar in question will fit in a Flying V case without modification, and those are easy to find.

Still need to do something about the road case for my old amp head; I may just reline it myself. Only needs a layer of foam, doesn't require a nice lining like a guitar case would.

Thanks for your suggestions & comments, everybody.
