Anybody use an Alt 8 with a PG neck??

Have a PG neck in Zebra and a Black Trembucker ALT 8 on hand and am thinking of swapping the PG in particular into the neck of my 1992 KOA Carvin DC 127. Wondered how the Alt 8 would be as a match? Always thought the A8 mag feel and tone was like a hot A2 so--.
Also have a Zebra Custom Custom on hand but really was thnking Perpetual Burn bridge PG neck but since I have the Alt8 on hand and would have to buy a Perpet well-

Haven't played the A8 but the volume may be hard to match. You could also try an a5 in the PG which would up the output and possibly make it a bit more aggressive

Not concerned with the volume mismatch as much as how the tones interacted. The Alt is a big round pickup and so is the PG neck so wondering how they would work together as a set? In particular with the eq of them are they similar enough? I like a volume jump to the bridge pickup any way + will run an Alnico 8 pickup lower than normal to offset that increased mag pull on the stings. If you don't with A8 you get weird overtones and a loss of sustain.

I hear you on a8 magnets, had one in a 498 and a custom and couldn't gel with the overtone, which sounded clangy to me. Maybe I just had them up too high. I preferred aoa5 though.

Anyways it sounds like the combo may work for you. Since you already have them, why not pop them in and see how they work together? From there you can decide if they need a mag swap or whatever. You can adjust the roundedness/sharpness of that pgn pretty well with the bobbin screw anyway, so fiddle with it first.

In the end left the stock M22N in the neck and dropped the Alt 8 in the bridge of the 92 Carvin DC 127. Works very well so far balances output wise well plus the tones seem to be a good match. Will know more in the next couple days once I get the guitar on stage and in a full band mix. Keep you guys posted!
Have a Trembucker Custom Custom on hand that should make better mate to that PG neck in some thing so we shall see.
Wanted something fat but tighter in the bottom with a good singing solo tone in the KOA DC 127 than a Custom Custom as I plan to pair it with my stock 07 PRS Custom 24 with a HFS and VB on stage.
