Anybody want a free darkroom?

A couple years ago, our highschool's art teacher retired and bequeathed to my daughter all the various personal gear she had bought for the school's darkroom over the years. It seemed like an honor at the time.

In reality, my daughter's off a college now, works excusively in digital photography, and will never put together a darkroom. So it's time for the equipment to go. Not a big market these days for B&W darkroom equipment, I know, but I hate to see gear go to waste or worse yet, the landfill.

Anybody know somebody who knows anybody who's intersted in B&W photography? We'll let it go for the shipping costs.

Includes Simmon Omega enlarger, and a variety of tanks, trays, safelights, timers and gadgets. Pretty much everything you'd need, save the room and a sink.

Interested, possibly. Do you have any pix?

What model is the enlarger? B22? D series?

It probably won't be worth me shipping the whole lot here, but maybe I could choose a few things I can use.

You can probably do OK giving the stuff away on Craigslist too.

Re: Anybody want a free darkroom?

Thanks, Rich.

I don't see anything I need.

FWIW, that is a B22 enlarger (standard model, not XL). The only things I'd need would be parts, and even then, only for stockpiling, so you should find someone locally who wants the whole thing.

It will be easier to get someone to take it if you find the negative carriers and put them next to it in the photo, and maybe dust it off a bit. (And close the top flush with the negative stage so that no dust gets into the bellows. There is a handle on the left that you need to unhook from a peg that is keeping the top up.)

I'd say just donate it to a local thrift. IF someone wants it , like a young student, I'll throw in a working nice old 35 MM rangefinder camera, on condition they agree to study not only the science, but also the art , and post some photos eventually.

Re: Anybody want a free darkroom?

I've had a couple nibbles, but this stuff is still looking for a good home. I got a couple shipping estimates to the midwest of about $90, so that gives us all some idea.

I'm gonna ask my sister...she's a professional photographer...

will get back to you shortly.
