4) Where it is on the ES-335. I kinda like that one.I too hate it when guitar companies try to cut cost by dumping controls together.
It's the reason I'll never own a Carvin or PRS doublecut. they either stick that toggle all the way back away from your picking hand or they throw it somewhere covered up by the vol/tone knobs.
In my experience, if I have to think about where a control is, it shouldn't be there.
I think there are only 3 places it's appropriate to throw a toggle switch.
1) Top of the guitar near the fretboard, i.e. LP standard
2) In front and clear of the volume controls near the picking hand, i.e. Strat
3) On the bottom horn, i.e. reissue Explorer
