Anyone checked out the new 70th Anni Hendrix Wah?

Re: Anyone checked out the new 70th Anni Hendrix Wah?

I am planning on buying the whole line of the 70th Anniversary line. I even went as far as contacting Dunlop to see if I could get a discount. They told me they were sold out of all of them. I haven't been able to find a single store that has all of them, but I have seen the Octavia and the fuzz, but not the others.....

So let me get this straight Christian...... the paint job is ugly? What a bummer. Do you think I will sound like Jimmy if I get these??

Re: Anyone checked out the new 70th Anni Hendrix Wah?

Oh my god. I was just about to ask who Anni Hendrix is and why her name is on Jimi's pedals.

Re: Anyone checked out the new 70th Anni Hendrix Wah?

70th Anniversary of what? Jimi's birthday?

I wouldn't mind having the wah, but the rest is already covered with the Jimi FF, T Rex Viper Vibe, and Fulltone Octafuzz.

Re: Anyone checked out the new 70th Anni Hendrix Wah?

Id be very surprised if they could fit a univibe circuit into that little phase 90 case.

It's nice to see a good univibe like that in a small box, very handy. Also, nice to see a Jimi fuzz face thats not the size of a dinner plate.

They didn't. There's only authentic Univibe clone in a phase 90 sized enclosure to the best of my knowledge, and that's the Drybell Vibe Machine.

I've tried the Standard Jimi Wah, and it's the same thing as the Cry Baby Original. The 70th Anni is the same circuitry as the regular one, but it has Jimi's face on the pedal. I love Hendrix, but I wouldn't pay $60 more for a Jimi Hendrix wah, when I can get the same thing for $70.

Are you saying the Jimi wah, that's been around a while, is the same as the current production gcb95 crybaby? I'd be surprised if that was true. I'm sure the new one is the same as the old jimi wah but with the dude's face on the front.

I wonder if the same is true about the fuzz face.

Re: Anyone checked out the new 70th Anni Hendrix Wah?

Alright...there are 4 JH wahs, the first JH-1 and a JH-1S which is the same as the JH-1 with a different pot then there is the fairly recent JH-1B which is the same circuit as the JH-1 but with a different inductor and a new shell then there is the 70th Anni which again is the same but again a different shell.

As for them being a standard Crybaby they are not the same and they are also not correct to a vintage wah either...

Are they good, sure lots of folks like 'em...

Re: Anyone checked out the new 70th Anni Hendrix Wah?

Hrrmmm...so how does the current jh wahs, including the 70th, compare to the current crybaby classic with fasel?

Re: Anyone checked out the new 70th Anni Hendrix Wah?

I haven't tried a Dunlop era Crybaby in years...hate the in/out buffers, hate the sweep...just sort of hate 'em in general.

The JH wahs are not a vintage sounding wah to me but I do have one and i do like it.

Big sweep, lots of lows bright but not shrill top and a sort of smoothness to it...

Re: Anyone checked out the new 70th Anni Hendrix Wah?

I like and own a Hendrix wah, I think the JH-1, and I disliked and owned a standard Crybaby. I didn't find them to be very similar at all. The sweep is much different, there is a shrillness to the standard Crybaby that I don't get with the Hendrix, and the Hendrix actually sounds good. I think they're worlds apart.

Re: Anyone checked out the new 70th Anni Hendrix Wah?

Where does the Hendrix Fuzz Wah work into the Dunlop Hendrix evolution? The one with a fuzz built into the wah. I got one of those and it is rad :)

I am not a fan of the "original" cry baby which is the base model. I was speaking of the "classic" which is supposed to be a fair bit better with the fasel conductor(?).

It's is virtually identical to the Jimi wah. Maybe a different resistor here and there, but the same really. I played them both with a Strat (voodoo child intro) through a Orange Tiny Terror Tube amp set clean, and I heard maybe a half of a tonality difference between the two. Not enough to warrant buying the hendrix wah, unless I was a super huge Hendrix fan or a completely anal tone freak. I am a tone freak when it comes to a few things (picks, strings, Gibsons, and DD pups), but not with Wah pedals.

I dunno about the classic...I am pretty sure it's pretty much the standard CB with a few small tweaks...still has the in/out buffers and typical Dunlop tone...
