Anyone checked out the new 70th Anni Hendrix Wah?

Re: Anyone checked out the new 70th Anni Hendrix Wah?

I dunno about the classic...I am pretty sure it's pretty much the standard CB with a few small tweaks...still has the in/out buffers and typical Dunlop tone...

For as little as I woukd use it , I am probably overthinking it. But BITD when I used a wah all the time (as a filter ala Schenker) I remember there being such big diff between all the diff wahs, like CB,.morley, DOD/Digitech, BOSS, original vox RI.etc. Some of them were awful....or rather, not very vintagey. But that was all you could find. There were no very good new wahs at the time.

I would have no prob splurging for a booteek wah if my style dictated it, but I won't use it much. Thus why i am looking on the lower end of the market.

Re: Anyone checked out the new 70th Anni Hendrix Wah?

My fav wahs right now are from Kevin Wilson but some of the Dunlops are good sounding wahs too...the JH is one of them, not a vintage tone IMHO but a good tone.

If you are willing to look hard and spend a little $$$ you can get some cool Jen wahs right now for good prices...

Re: Anyone checked out the new 70th Anni Hendrix Wah?

The JH wah is pretty much the Standard Cry Baby with a couple of component changes. A few cents of parts for a big markup. If you like the JH wah sound then just buy a standard Cry Baby and swap one or two components for a few cents).

Re: Anyone checked out the new 70th Anni Hendrix Wah?

It's is virtually identical to the Jimi wah. Maybe a different resistor here and there, but the same really. I played them both with a Strat (voodoo child intro) through a Orange Tiny Terror Tube amp set clean, and I heard maybe a half of a tonality difference between the two. Not enough to warrant buying the hendrix wah, unless I was a super huge Hendrix fan or a completely anal tone freak. I am a tone freak when it comes to a few things (picks, strings, Gibsons, and DD pups), but not with Wah pedals.
This is true..ive had both the gcb-95 and the hendrix(my hendrix was the older one with the big writing) and modified em to rue bypass etc. I think the only difference from memory is 2 capacitors so the sweep range is slightly different. Oh - and the writing on the outside!

I just noticed the pendant that Eric Gales is wearing in the above video. Those are one coil of a chrome pole Invader that Maricella or someone at Duncan makes. I still have mine, which Evan Skopp gave me.

Last I looked at the schematics, the difference between the standard GCB-95 and the first JH-1 is the JH-1 has two additional resistors. The rest of the parts are the same.

The Classic is the same as the GCB-95 except for a different pot and a fasel inductor. I like the Classic a lot.

Re: Anyone checked out the new 70th Anni Hendrix Wah?

The Univibe I'll be looking for... IMO Dunlop's made the mode authentic sounding "Hendrix" vibes, but in huge cases- that being an MXR sized case, I want one.

The wah is nothing special. I just picked up a CAE Wah and it's the best sounding wah ever. It's got 2 inductors, red and yellow, which let you toggle between vintage and modern wahs (or rather bright and dark wah) an dit handles everything you throw at it
