Anyone else here who likes the Marshall Origin?

Got it because it was cheap, never expected to like it so much. I crank it with a captor though, into a Greenback IR otherwise it's nothing special.
I would dare to say it fills my Plexi needs, that clean to breakup sound is sooo good, no other amp really does that IMHO. I owned a Vintage Modern and a Bogner XTC before and this totally gets that plexi type tone at a fraction of the price, it's rediculous :D.

Yeah the 20, it has full size EL34 in it, don't need the 50Watt really, or do I?

Celestion Seventy 80 speakers are the worst speakers ever made, really nasty stuff I agree.
Greenbacks much better and very much a key feature for this type of sound. Smooth breakup!

I really like the 20 watt Marshall Origin head. It's a great amp, and sounds lovely with greenbacks. May not be a Plexi, but close enough to make me happy. The power scaling is pretty cool too.

Those amps are very weird, they're great, but I'm always surprised by how little gain they have on tap, even compared to vintage Marshalls I've heard.

They do a killer clean and they love pedals, I'm not a high gain player by any means but I definitely would need some kinda dirt box in front to get a full range of sounds (not a bad thing mind you)

Seeing as how I am perfectly happy getting my gain from pedals, it sounds like the perfect option for if I ever decide that I want a Marshall.

Marshall does a great job of preserving the Marshall tone across all of their products. Even the little solid-state MGs sound great and preserve the Marshall tone.

I have a friend who has a cheaper MGX solid state half stack -it does the Marshall thing well -it's just slightly harsher sounding when you A/B but totally useful especially for live.

A lot of people are modding them to get them to sound better in their desired directions. Not a bad bang for the buck.

I still have my Triple XXX, JSX and Penta. I can dial in Clean thru as much Gain as I need on my JSX and Penta. My Triple XXX is either Clean or stupid Gain.

has anyone put a creamback in one of these things?

I also liked the origin 20 combo when I tried it, despite a less than ideal speaker design / size. I'd imagine that a better 10", or a proper 12", would really do wonders__PRESENT

The gain from my Mesa is just fine, thank you very much.
I would have no problem using my Spidervalve with just it's foot control as a "pedal". Even as just a half stack. As a full stack, I'd better be in a large room.

you just kinda hit on something there. i never thought those line6 amps cut through live very well. in order to be heard, you need to be way too loud.

Maybe that's a problem with their solid state amps. Mine seems to cut through just fine.

My experience with Solid State amps is they cut through just fine -just typically slightly harsher because they lack that natural tube compression that rounds the transients that tend to wear on the ears because a Solid State more faithfully reproduces that stuff.

Since you use that little Keeley compressor you likely don't suffer this issue I speak of as much -but without tubes, it's still a factor to dial EQ to avoid or balance... or pronounce I guess if you dig harsh.
