I certainly enjoyed the '57 Hot Rod I played awhile back but probably not enough to change to those pups from something else. Was not getting classic Strat tone but a tone I liked for what I play. But I want a 22 fretter so I will likely get a V-neck AM Deluxe and put in "Vintage" noiseless. Some people hate them as not being traditionally Stratty enough either but for the music I play I like 'em and it's nice having no noise issues. Had them in my DG20 equipped Am Deluxe I just sold to my nephew because the EMGs in the DG20 kit were just way too hot for me.

Tone is so subjective and it's mostly a matter of whether you're going for a specific tone you like or a classic Strat sound. But, even that is subjective.

Hmm...

I'm even more curious now...I'll tear mine down in the next day or 3 and take some pics...

I remember reading in Fender Frontline that 57/62s were re-done spec wise..

Really?

I know the poles are different regarding the bevel or lack of a bevel but now I
m super curious!

BUMP for info...

I finally got some hard info (not much but some!) from Fender on the 57/62's...

Fender did a major overhaul of the 57/62 pickups in 1998 so there is a differnece between the 57/62's made pre and post 1998.

All they've told me at this point is that the pre 1998 57/62's were not period correct...

I'm waiting on more info...

There's an article in one of the Frontline catalogs I Own,that has the winder/designer talking about the upgrades/changes..I have every single Fender Frontline catalog with the exception of maybe 2 total? Maybe I can locate it and post the info on here?

So mine are older, not vintage correct according to Fender, probably PE, etc.

I love love them so much I bought three sets, about 80 bucks on Amazon.
I use them with 2 strats that are HSS. Chime and quack is beautiful.
Gonna try 1 in the neck of my SG, and leave my JB pup in the bridge.
The 4 position in my HSS strats sound like nothing I have heard before.
The sound is so good, I can't describe it. Mine came with beveled edges and
the wire is Formvar.
