They were a very ornate, highly detailed acoustic manufacturer in the 70s. I've never seen one up close, but they looked incredible. The correct pronunciation is BO-zho. Four grand doesn't sound out of line for the amount of work that went into them.

I remember seeing pics of them in Tom Wheeler's book years ago. I think I still have that book in the basement...

Bozo was pretty well known in the 70's .. I'm not positive, but I think Leo Kottke was playing one of his 12 strings back then
and yes, they were usually pretty ornate guitars
he lived for a while in San Diego, and I can remember walking along a street one day and seeing his shop - I knew about him, but had no idea where his shop was
besides all the inlay, many of his older guitars were Brazilian rosewood, so that accounts for part of the price
