Anyone ever owned a Sovtek Mig 50 head?

Re: Anyone ever owned a Sovtek Mig 50 head?

Teh wifey's got one in the basement.

Personally, I think it's a bit sterile on it's own until it's earbleedingly loud. As far as I know it hasn't broken down in the 2 years that she's had it, and I can't really speak as to how well it takes to pedals. I prefer my amps to this- but it's not a bad head.

Sounds like a cross between a 50 watt Marshall and a tweed Bassman. These were budget minded amps from day one and in a lot of ways it shows, that said they are built better than other amps that sell for more money and to be hoenst they sound pretty good with decent tubes and a good cab. They take pedals pretty well and to be honest unless you get one with a master volume you might need it...they are pretty damn loud.

I've owned one. My buddy AJ still owns one. And Duke Robillard uses one live. If you closed your eyes, you'd think you were hearing some kind of nice Fender. I think they're great...especially for the price.

They're sort of like a head version of the Fender tweed '59 Bassman with a solid state rectifier instead of tube rectifier.

Tony Bruno designed it for Sovtek...he makes some great amps!

Forreals? That sounds like it'd be a cool amp to try.
