Anyone ever play a Jaydee Guitar?

Re: Anyone ever play a Jaydee Guitar?

Yes. It was a "basic" Explorer model - all-mahogany, rosewood 'board, dot inlays, controls like an SG, original pickups had been robbed out and replaced with Ibanez Super 58 HBs. (Not necessarily a bad thing!)

The guitar previously belonged to a friend. He had it back about a year later. He also had the full-on block inlays and binding version with DiMarzio X2Ns. Eventually, new baby forced sale. :(

Re: Anyone ever play a Jaydee Guitar?

I've played his basses a couple of times. Very nice. Very Alembic-like overall, but pretty different at the detail level.

Re: Anyone ever play a Jaydee Guitar?

My 1st guitar teacher had a Jaydee Explorer.

From what I remember was just a standard Explorer shape with a hockey stick headstock and dot inlays. I think the pickups in it were a Custom in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck.

I'm not going to buy one... I'm just trying to figure out more about the company... if they have prices comparable to Gibsons maybe I could look at one of these in the future. :dunno:

They're BRITISH, they just can't compete price-wise.

Re: Anyone ever play a Jaydee Guitar?

Well, I found one person who has the same guitar shown above and he bought it for 1800 pounds... NO chance for meeee!!

Re: Anyone ever play a Jaydee Guitar?

looks pretty nice...

A good U.S alternative might be US Masters Guitar Works..

Re: Anyone ever play a Jaydee Guitar?

Yeah, it's not a Gibson - the neck joint is a little different too - but really nice looking and REALLY reasonably price for a US-made guitar... They're very tempting, IMO.

I have a couple of Jaydee guitars and have had a few more in the past
SUPERB instruments. I have a Flying V of his which is brilliant. Rings like a bell. Slab Brazilian fingerboard. Dimarzio pickups. Plays really nicely and sounds incredible. Throaty roaring sound. Chunky midrange and balanced high end. Top notch.
The other is a 335 style guitar with no F holes but has been modded to have 3 P90's before I got it. Sounds great too, but I would have preferred just 2 pickups tbh. I am sure it used to have 2 HB. Still, plays extremely nicely.
In any case, he is a top quality builder and used they can be quite affordable. New, they are totally worth what he asks.
