Anyone ever try a JB in an SG?

Re: Anyone ever try a JB in an SG?

I don't like stock JB's; even with 250K's there's too much 'ice pick' for me. I like it much better with an A2. Haven't tried an UOA5 in it yet, but will one day.

The C5 used to be the top SG recommendation here, until the C8 came along. C5's are bright and midscooped, C8's are warmer with more mids. Both are very good PU's, and there's only a mag swap difference between the two. Whatever your tastes are, there's something in the Custom family you'll like.

Totally agree with Bluesman player. JB would be with A5 too much ice pick for bluesy territory. But for balls and Rock it could be the right choice for with higher gain territory. Guess it depends on your needs? What tool for the job at hand.
Be interesting to get an aged A5 or an overwound A2 JB type?
Blueman have you played with the pearly gates, I have a friend that has them in his les paul and they sound great. He is heavy blueman too! He has a set in a 1993 PRS with maple top and sound good too.

I have all of the Duncan PAF's ('59, PG, A2P, Seth, Ant), and all are very good. My favorites, and the ones that I have the most of, are Seth's and '59's.

I had experimented with JB, 59, Seth and 36th in a warm SG copy. The JB did sound great there.. but it was a bit too much output for me. The JB sound also kinda bore me after a while.

Like blueman I like the Seth and 59s too. The Custom is the only thing I haven't but wanted to try.
